If you're in Rincon "Steps Beach" is a must-visit! This is some of the best snorkeling in Puerto Rico in the summer months. The colorful reef featuring Elk Horn, Fan & Brain Coral is beautiful and starts directly off the beach. If you need to rent snorkel gear there is a little kiosk (bonus! they also serve lunch). A porta... More

My husband and I stayed in San Juan and made a day trip to Steps Beach. The snorkeling was great. Lots of beautiful coral and colorful fish. We also saw 2 sea turtles. A couple of tips: 1.) Enter at the point to the left of the parking lot (not at the steps). It's more sandy there and makes for... More

This place is incredible .... If you have your own snorkel gear you can just wade into the waters and start exploring. Highly recommend a tour with Rincon paddleboards ... The guides we knowledgable and friendly and helpful.

We spent an afternoon swimming around Steps Beach and the reserve. We saw a couple of turtles and lots of very colorful fish. The current wasn't bad with flippers. One thing to be aware of... if you enter from Steps, the entry is rocky and if you enter in the wrong place there are a LOT of urchins. Be careful... More

I cant remember the last time I snorkled for almost 2 hours. We saw 3 turtles and tons of fish. The coral was beautiful. We were not able to enter through the Steps beach because it was so full so we parked at the marina and swam from there. As soon as you pass the point of the marina the... More

It had rained for a day and a half before we got there so the water clarity was a little bit cloudy. Nice reef with lots of fish. Not too many people

We spent an afternoon at Steps Beach and had a great time! There were not a lot of people so we had our choice of shady spots under the plentiful palms. The snorkeling was pretty good - lots of fish and sea urchins, etc. - but getting into the water is tricky as it is VERY rocky!! Found a good... More
