I was taking a class on photography using a cellphone at the nearby Dundas Valley School of Art, and the lunch-break assignment was to photograph the environs. Stopped inside this lovely, sun-lit gallery overlooking the mini-commercial square across the street, giving it a lovely perspective. It's multi-level but accessible with an elevator. So many local artists, and quite reasonably priced.

Just before Christmas we decided to stroll around Dundas and stopped into Carnegie Gallery . What a lovely gallery ! As it was the Christmas season many different artists had their wares on display for purchase. The many tree ornaments were wonderful and the pottery and art works were really a joy to look at ! I bought each of my grandchildren pretty Angel ornaments that they will treasure for many years to come. We really enjoyed our time here and will definitely be returning for another look. Many of the artist are local and it's great for them to have such a nice place to display their artwork and pottery etc ! The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Beautiful old building that once held the Library nicely renovated. Rotating displays all items can be purchased. I bought a unique raku polar bear. Unfortunately, the 'clerk' we had was unfriendly and came off as snobbish. Did not suit the small town feel of Dundas...Maybe better training is needed? Still worth a look around.

This is the favorite art gallery of my Canadian friend who lives in Dundas, a former town and now a community of Hamilton as a result of amalgamation.
At the time of our visit, the gallery had lots of original works in different media by local artists that included glass, woodcuts, screen prints, acrylics, oils, and mixed media. One work was a mixed media piece that resembled a tree and was made of clay, India ink, paper, and wire. It was titled Unbound by Gise Trauttmansdorff.
I especially liked a woodcut titled Heading Out by Ralph Heather, a mixed media graphic in a zigzag design titled Pop Psychology by Karen Thiessen, and a wall hanging that was a collage of birds, a statue, snowflakes, and a twiggy tree titled Story Without Words by Roger Wood, plus another titled Tulip 2 in delicate pastel shades by an unknown artist
There were some cases of hand-made jewelry that included bracelets, earrings, and necklaces.
My friend bought some limited-edition artwork print note cards. I got an oversized postcard with a line drawing of the Carnegie Gallery building shaded in pale colors by Danuta Niton in a series called The Historical Buildings of Dundas. It was $3.00 CAD. The building was formerly occupied by the public library. I also got a large oblong note card with its envelope that was a painting of Webster’s Falls in Dundas, the best-known of the waterfalls in that area and the place we were headed next. That was $4.00 CAD. With the 13% tax, the total was $7.91 CAD.
And, as expected with galleries, admission is free.
I rate Carnegie Gallery at 5.0. I highly recommend a visit to anyone who appreciates artistic talent and creativity.
For those who can’t or don’t want to climb the stairs at the main entrance, there is an elevator that is accessible via the side entrance on Ogilvie Street.

For a small town like Dundas to have a big city gallery like Carnegie is quite an accomplishment. But them Dundas is home to an extraordinary number of fine artists such as Deborah Doran (pottery), Lorraine Roy (textiles), and Marcela Prikryl (portraiture), amongst many, many others. It is a delight to visit, and then to wander around the town of Dundas.

Dont miss the CARNEGIE GALLERY when you are in the Hamilton area. it has a lovely selection of hand made art created by local artists.
I appreciated the advice of the picture framing gallery downstairs, too.

I live in Dundas and visit the Gallery quite often. The Gallery is small but full of treasures. It hosts all kinds of art exhibitions, displayes pottery, jewelry, wood carvings, paintings, handmade fancy dolls and much more. There is something new and interesting, always of a high artistic level. Each visit is a delight. It's a great place to shop for a special occasion but I never feel pressred to buy.
A beautiful glass entrance on the side of the building was added a while ago so that the main Gallery can be reached by elevator. Any visitor to Dundas should drop in and enjoy all the beautiful objects.

This gallery has been around for many years and it is located in a beautiful building. Lots of local talent shown to be purchased and artisan work for sale. Beautiful one of a kind jewellery, scarves etc. Worth a visit and downtown Dundas is quite pretty.
