The mountains are beautiful and trekking there is a real treat. But what made our trip so fun and memorable was the service we received from Los Amigos de Huayhuash. They are a family business based in a village near the start of the trek....More

My friend and I have nothing but wonderful things to say about our trip with Los Amigos de Huayhuash. Everything was so easily organized by Anamin (via email) from our arrival into Lima. Our stay in Lima, transportation to, as well as accommodation in Huaraz...More

When a company has a top-notch Trip Advisor rating, and a lot of reviews -- there's usually a good reason...and that is definitely the case with Los Amigos de Huayhuash (LAdH), a trekking service in the Cordillera Huayhuash owned by the Valdez family, whose roots...More

Peru's Cordillera Huayhuash is spectacular! We're already talking about going back, and when we do, Los Amigos de Huayhuash will be our first email. These outfitters are terrific in every way. They impressed us from the get-go with excellent communication in the months before the...More

Trekking the Huayhuash is absolutely amazing! The peaks surrounding the trek are so beautiful that at times, I found I had tears rolling down my cheeks. Absolutely breathtaking views! We booked our trip with Los Amigos de Huayhuash, three brothers that work hard to make...More

This is a challenging trek through beautiful landscape and remote wilderness. However, be very aware there are bandits in the remote areas (eg. near the hot springs) . If you travel in a group they will likely just demand protection money. If you are trekking...More

We visited the Cordillera Blanca in 2000 and met a guide who works all over the world, when asked what her favorite trek was, the answer was Cordillera Huayhuash. This trek has been on our wish list for 16 years!! It was worth every moment...More

I did an 8 day trek. What can I say? Believe the hype. It is stunning. Every single day. And there are hot springs. Practicalities - You have to rank this trek under the 'hard' category due to not just the altitude but also the...More

Amazingly beautiful landscape, and a wonderful trek. It is more fun if you have flexibility and can take your time rather than having to rush out in the morning, hike nonstop all day, and set up camp in the dark. Leave time for photos, stop...More

One of the best hikes in the World. The opportunity to do the full circuit will not be available in the near future due to a mining development and so time is limited to experience this beautiful walk in it entirety. There's your excuse to...More

There is occasional mention of guard dogs, who may attack and bite, and concern about rabies. Is this enough of a risk on a guided Huayhuash Circuit trek to require (expensive) pre trip rabies vaccinnation? (if bitten you have to get rabies vaccinne as soon as possible anyway, whether pre- vaccinnated or not) if one needed emergency medical evacuation for this or any other concern, what is the longest it would take to get to modern medical care in Lima? or is there a hospital in Huaraz? do most people worry about rabies there? or is the risk so minimal as to not be a concern?

We did the Huayhuash Circuit in May 2017. Dogs in Peru, in general, are unspayed/neutered and roam free. We met lots of dogs in the Huayhuash, and none were aggressive; some were friendly; some were very shy. I love dogs... More

This question is not possible to answer, because the company offers more than half a dozen different treks, and each is a different length (so each is a different price). In general, they are about "average"-priced for the... More
