Awesome experience - not for the faint hearted

My wife and I booked to climb Chachani the day after we returned from the Colca Canyon tour. We were a little sore already but are fairly tough. We completed the first days climb... read more

The tour was suppose to include an English speaking guide, water and snacks,  maintained bikes with a repair kit and spare parts, finish at 2. None of these things were included!!!! Our tour was changed to accommodate requests of two other passengers, which was fine I suppose.  But  it meant spending ages in a car and stopping every ten yards... More

My wife and I booked to climb Chachani the day after we returned from the Colca Canyon tour. We were a little sore already but are fairly tough. We completed the first days climb easy enough but this was only a two hour hike. The test was to come on day two. We were woken at 12.30am given a simple... More

In 2013 I hiked Misti volcano with Quechua Exploring Agency and had very positive experience. This year I came back to Arequipa with strong desire for climbing the second, higher pick near the city - volcano Chachani. Obviously I started looking for the agency I have already known, and then I read all bad reviews about trips with this company.... More

Chachani is an incredible trek! The views from the top are amazing! I went with Peru Swiss Tours ( office on Jerusalem street). I took the 2 day/ 1 night tour; which allows for extra altitude acclimation time. The guide, Alfredo, knew the mountain so well. He paced us from the beginning of the hike into base camp. And thank... More

Decided on this trip as wanted to be able to say I'd mountain biked down a volcano! I booked this trip through one of the numerous tour operators near the Santa Catalina Monastery and must say that I did NOT get what I paid for. The '4x4' they promise you to take you up the mountain just about has 2... More

I did a half day mountain biking trip down Chachani with a couple of friends. We went with 'Expeditiones y Aventuras', a tour company with an office near the Santa Catalina Monastery. We were driven in a 4x4 up to about 4000m and biked down again into Arequipa. I had never really been mountain biking before, so it was a... More

I biked down chachani and it was awesome! Long drive up but then the views are amazing and the ride down was so fun. I have only done fairly easy mountain biking before and parts were a bit challenging, but I loved every minute of it! Great for people who want some adventure while seeing gorgeous views.
