- BluebellplasnewyddCardiff, United Kingdom2,041 contributionsFeat of engineeringThis is a must in Ronda. You can drive over the bridge but best to find a parking space (difficult) and view over the walls on both sides as the vista is completely different. As well, if you have time, is to walk down by taking a small road downstream after going over the bridge travelling away from the bull ring. You then have a view looking up to the bridge. Of course you have to walk back up the steep track.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten October 29, 2023
- 🌈🌈❤️happyopenmindedtraveler❤️🌈🌈The Netherlands415,688 contributionsImpressive bridge!!!This was the highlight of our 1-day guided tour of Ronda (by touring bus from Torremolinos). It was actually quite thrilling to stand on this bridge and look at the magnificent view below. We were really so glad that we have done this guided tour of Ronda with an excellent local guide who speaks 4 different languages!!!. - K72Melbourne, Australia3,082 contributionsImpressiveWhat an engineering feat? Towering 98m above El Tajo gorge this is an impressive sight to see. The new bridge- Puente Nuevo is a major drawcard in Ronda. If you walk in Molinos village you get a view from much lower also. From the bridge you can see the smaller, older bridge too. There's a little museum to visit also.Visited December 2023Travelled with friendsWritten January 10, 2024
- nnmercmanCamberley, United Kingdom14,427 contributionsImpressive structureWe drove across the bridge, parked the car and walked back over it. Views from both sides are spectacular and you can also (for a fee of 2euro50c) walk down a few steps to underneath the arches to where there’s an interpretation centre. A walkway takes you further along but it’s currently closed for refurbishment. If you make the effort to walk or drive to the viewpoint far below then you’ll be treated to a magnificent view of the bridgeVisited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten February 1, 2024
- Stefanie HLincoln, Nebraska1,745 contributionsVery niceThis is an obvious five star attraction, because it's amazing! You can stand on either side of the bridge or below and get great views no matter where you are. The bridge lights up at night, which is equally amazing. Worth the detour up into the hills to see Ronda, for sure!Visited January 2024Travelled with familyWritten March 20, 2024
- permia65,657 contributionsWhat an engineering achievementWhat an achievement it was to span the 120 metre deep El Tajo de Ronda. But it was accomplished in 1793 with the opening of this engineering marvel. Views of the bridge both at street level but particularly after descending into the ravine are phenomenal.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten May 20, 2024
- andycoldhamCrawley, United Kingdom1,033 contributionsAwesomeIf you visit Ronda, the icon site to visit is the new bridge which is the subject of so many famous photos. Its a must see sight and makes for some awesome photos. The bridge can be seen from either side. From above and below. Sadly I did not have time to make the long round trip to see the bridge from the bottom of the valley., but we were able to walk fown to the lower platform and museum, entrance on the right side of the bridge. However please note you can only pay by credit card to access this area and I had to ask a German tourist to add my bill to his card and give him cash as I had left my credit cards in my hotel. The current charge is €2.50 pp.Visited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten June 17, 2024
- machinmadYaxley, United Kingdom2,650 contributionsClassic view, but it has to be done ...The classic tourist attraction. Try to get pics from both sides of the the bridge. We also walked down the well-maintained path to shoot some pics upward. Also, stop to listen to the various buskers who play guitar on either side of the top of the bridge.Visited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten June 22, 2024
- Baggio1018London, United Kingdom377 contributionsA must see in RondaDefinitely the must-see sight in Ronda. The photo in the listing is from the viewpoint below, whilst this bridge can easily be accessed from Ronda town centre by foot. When on the bridge, take in the view from both sides and perhaps find a restaurant with a table available on their balcony. Note that when we visited in July, the side of the bridge facing north was swarming with bugs in the evening.Visited July 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten August 3, 2024

Views are beautiful, make sure you walk up and down the city crossing the bridge and admiring views from every angle. You can always go some steps down to walk under the arch. This was in my bucket list and it is really magical place.

Visit the beautiful medieval town of Ronda. In the surrounding area you will find a lot of beautiful vinyards, but for wine tasting you will have to book. There is a convenient car park right at the main street which you can stroll down and have a look at the many stores. You will pass a beautiful plaza and arrive at the bull ring and a platform with a fabulous view of the area. Then make your way back to the famous Bridge, admire the stone work, learn about its history and take in the scenery.
Very beautiful.

This is the newest and largest bridge of Ronda! Its construction started in 1759 and lasted during 34 years. It was finally inaugurated in 1793, connecting directly both sides of the "El Tajo" gorge - the so called "La Ciudad" (the old town) and "El Mercadillo (the new town). It is 66m long and 98m high over the "Río Guadalevín" - bring your camera and be ready for the most awesome views of the gorge and of Ronda's mountain range! "Puente Nuevo" is probably the main reason you came to Ronda and you are completely right: "Puente Nuevo" is absolutely unmissable! Enjoy!

I think it was such a good decision for me to visit in February. I think what is fun about Ronda is you can roam around and look at this bridge from near far down and on top of it and you will be amazed from every angle😊 the almond trees blossoming here and there makes you feel cheerful reminds me of the japanese cherry blossoms (altho I must say they are way better in japan) but just the blooming tree are pretty and makes you feel the early spring breeze. I imagine if I came here in the summer it would have been too hot for me. I'd like to
come to malaga every feb 🔥
Also the random plate with the random japanese guys name on it came across as a surprise

The bridge itself is beautiful and can be viewed easily, and without paying from many of the walkways nearby. We paid €2.50 each to walk down to the ‘new bridge’ and thought this would take us all the way across. However, there are a few steps down and you walk into a room with one video screen and little information. It’s not worth it to pay to walk a little lower. View the bridge from the road and surrounding roads for free!

Showing my age, I thought this town was called Rhoda, like the lady in the Mary Tyler Moore show, the 1st time I heard of it. I know better now and we have come back to visit the town with friends and relatives regularly. It's a pueblo blanco or white town and attracts visitors for the picture perfect old buildings. Irish visitors are interested to know that the town dates back to the Celts.
The most photographed feature is this " new bridge" was completed in 1793. It is said that around 50 builders died in the 40 years it took to finish it.Part of the bridge was used as a prison during the Civil war and depending on who you listen to, some prisoners from the Civil war were thrown to their death into the rocky gorge below.
Try to get down into the gorge itself for a different perspective.

See my comments at the uploaded pictures. This is a truly amazing place to visit in Andalusia. Go the touristic route and keep walking towards the city gates and return underneath the city walls to cross back on the other bridge to enjoy stunning views.

It is best to park in the "Plaza Del Socorro" car park under the square of the same name for a small fee. From there you walk through nice streets directly to the bridge with hundreds of other tourists and can enjoy a phenomenal view and take beautiful photos. From the bridge you can look 100 m deep into the "Al Tajo de Ronda" gorge. A gorge running right through the city was created by a tectonic fault. On the other side of the bridge at the "Mirador de los Viajeros" square there is a picture made of colorful tiles that shows Ronda without the bridge. A tour of Ronda is also worthwhile. In front of the bridge there is a map and a sign with all the sights.

An excellent bridge built over 200 years ago in a tremendous feat of engineering creating such a photogenic structure spanning a deep gorge and connecting two halves of the town. You need at least four locations for all the best view just on the top of the bridge. Then go down to the Miradors towards the bottom on either side, and so beautiful at night.

Bonjour StephaneHoub,

Achei Ronda simplesmente espetacular. Muito linda.

How long of a hike is it to the bottom of the gorge for a picture? Distance, time, elevation would be helpful
Written September 11, 2018
You can go to a point around halfway down the gorge which has good viewpoints of the bridge, as well as access to a path that goes along to the lower sections of the bridge. That took around an hour. To the bottom of the gorge and back would be considerably longer.

My friend and I are planning a trip but she has a fear of heights.
Is the bridge only a footbridge?
Is there another way to go to the old town from the modern town?
Thanks
Written August 22, 2018
This is a fine well made structure. She is wide as well. One should have no issues crossing her. There is an awesome view of her from Jardines De Cuenca (terraced gardens) just to the east! Have fun!

Dear Friends, were is it best to park when visiting Ronda?
Written May 17, 2018
As soon as you cross the bridge in town there are signs that lead you to a paid underground parking. Not much free street parking around.

I am planning to visit Ronda Puente Nuevo Bridge and the Gorge. I will be travelling from Benalmadena. I see trains available from Malaga but from previous posts most people recommend bus routes...I am having difficulty in England establishing bus timetables as most are in Spanish (obviously). Can anyone recommend best route please? I am an early riser but it will only be a day trip. Many thanks in advance.
Written November 25, 2017
Hi Annabelle what everyone has said is true that there is public transport available but I'm not sure it would be worth it for a day. Ronda is very lovely but because of the geographical formation you don't get around quickly. To see everything walking is best but it does take time. We were there for a week and did a lot of the sights day by day. It is about an hours drive from Malaga is renting a car an option for you? as the road inland is not busy. Maybe when you arrive you could book a tour as each day in summer tour buses are huge business but off season I'm not sure. If you make it you will certainly enjoy!
