its a beautiful lake, freshwater fed by 2 rivers and fresh water springs.. a good opportunity with a lot of hippos and pelicans to spot around.. and if you decide to stay around here, there are lot of options around the lake.. expect really cold evenings and mostly rainy afternoons.. the company of the grazing hippos and the noises of... A large beautiful lake with a great deal of wildlife, especially birds and hippos. Taking a boat ride is a must. You troll around amid the skeletons of dead trees and watch the pelicans, cranes, and eagles. Also see the hippos in the water popping their heads in and out of the water. See birds flying, eagles fishing. Worth the... More

Visited in November en route Crescent Island. Apart from sightings of huge hippos that emerged from the lake at times, there really wasn't much to see. Also saw an Egyptian guinea fowl, giant kingfisher, comorrant and a few pelicans. It was average scenery but the tree trunks in the lake that once stood as majestic trees on dry land provided... We went on a 12-day safari in Kenya and Tanzania, and we made a stop here for a 1h boat ride to spot hippos (and there's also lots of birds if you're into that). Fun to do when you've been in a car for days on safari. Full safari review elsewhere.

We've been here a couple of times and really love the relaxing atmosphere. It's a wonderful escape from the noisy city. Although you can definitely come here on a day trip, I would recommend you stay overnight in one of the waterfront lodges. You can even camp if you're up for it.

Came here after visiting hell's gate in the morning and it was wonderful. I paid 35 USD for the boat aa I went alone but that's the price regardless of how many people are on the boat. I saw plenty of birds, more than I can remember and hippos. The guide was very knowledgeable and explained me in detail all... More

We visied Lake Naivashu as a party of 15 and stayed overnight in the cabins. Beautiful location and great scenery. Took the boat trip - lasted about an hour - and saw plenty of hippo just below the surface - pitty we couldn't get a better view. Plenty of birds including fish eagles. thoroughly enjoyed my time there.

It is a experience to go around the lake in the boat. It makes all the difference if you have a good boatman. Johnson who took us around explained about the lake and the birds we seen. He ensured we see Hippo's. A great boat ride weather was amazing. Must visit. Many lovely resorts around. I am sure it's a... More

We left Lake Nakuru post lunch and headed towards Nairobi. When the guide suggested a trip to Lake Naivasha to see hippos and water birds, we jumped at the opportunity. It was worth it. We paid 20 USD per person. The boat had 6 of us. We saw plenty of Egyptian Geese, Kingfishers, Cormorants, Storks, Marabou storks and Fish eagle. Our... More
