Another small castle that you can visit in 20 minutes or so. Unfortunately, they built a modern visitor center right in the middle of the castle which ruins the vibe. I have no idea why they’d do that. Otherwise, it’s fun to explore.

One of many nice castles in Portugal. It is usually locked but one can walk on the walls around and get the impression and the view.
But as I said the granaries next to the castle steal the show.

Unfortunately when we went, the inner part of the castle was closed for visitation, but we were still able to walk around the outside, the castle is very beautiful and the atmosphere of the surroundings is very medieval.

Unfortunately it was closed for visitation (???), but we could walk around inside the walls. The views are really nice, mainly to the "espigadeiras".

Lindoso is a beautiful little town with a nice little castle. Not much to do there but trekking. Trekking uphill back of the city away from the river reveals a beautiful view of the castle and the city.

You can walk round the Castelo for free and then go inside for €1.50.

Worth spending the money as the views improve and you get a great panoramic view of the granaries - Look it up!

The medieval Castel of Lindoso (1258-1278) was built during the reign of King Afonso 3rd, and extended by King Dinis in the 14th century. The Castel was designed to preserve the north border of Portugal and therefore its location close to the Spanish border. Its not a big castle, and not much to see inside, but the view around and the graneries nearby justify climbing the hill.

This was a little surprise. The castle is small but cute. You can walk on the walls and have a good view in the surroundings. Small children will love it.
