About
This small, quiet park is a nice getaway for families and others looking for a peaceful retreat. The lake is ideal for canoeing and kayaking, as well as fishing and swimming. There are 5 km of trails for walking and cycling and a grassy playground area. Explore the boreal forest by foot, bike, or boat and then pull up a chair by the campfire to watch a northern sunset and toast marshmallows.

Beautiful campground with nice, rustic, treed, natural campsites. Some of the nicest & largest sites are the non-power, but the powered sites are very nice as well. There is a very nice 5 km hike on well maintained trails with good signage (you won't get lost!). The outhouses & washrooms/showers are super clean (however there were only like 3 sites being used at this time). Park staff (Linda & Roméo) are so kind, hard working & helpful! Firewood is $10/bundle. Showers take loonies only; one loonies gives a pretty long decent shower. Two if you have long hair to rins out. Didn't check out the lake due to cold, rainy & windy weather, but the beach & water looked super clean.

We camped here with our young family for the May long weekend. The campsites are a lot larger and more private than we're used to, and we just loved the family feel of the campground. There are lots of wide hiking paths (could easily accommodate a jogging stroller/chariot), two playgrounds, and a great beach. A bit early for swimming yet, but I can see this being an absolute hit when it gets warmer. We also enjoyed fishing off the two docks, and were drooling at the thought of boating on the lake on a return trip. Lovely time, I hope we can come back again soon!

We absolutely loved our stay here. Our camping spot was very private and tree'd in and backed onto the lake.

Great walking trails, nice beach, boat launch area!

It's about a half and half mix of powered and non powered sites. You also need to book in advance as there is no check in booth.

We went May 26-28 and were so surprised how empty the campsite was. Maybe 10-12 other campers!

Loonie showers are available and wood for $10 a tote.

If you're looking for a quiet tranquil escape this place is perfect!

I found garner lake in the summer of 2015 and fell in love with it. We go 2-3 times a year. It's clean, quiet, and so far the only place I've found that has a reasonable price for wood.

Most places are $10 per bag, and its so dry and burns in minutes. Here you pay $10 per overflowing tub. Granted, I would love to not have to pay for wood, but it is what it is.

The parks staff are so friendly and helpful. We just love coming here as a family.

Loved this campsite. The beach is great...it is a pretty large beach and the water is swimmable.

The campsites are a little tight but they are very private. The campsite is well taken care of and very clean.

Nice playground right beside the flush toilets and showers. There are trails everywhere so they will keep you going for hours!

Definitely will be back!

Garner Lake Provincial campground is an older style provincial campground. The campground itself is relatively small and the campsites are all fairly well separated from one another by trees. It seems like about half of the sites have power hookups and the other half are nonserviced sites.

There is a washroom with showers which is open 24 hrs and is centrally located. A small playground is located next to the showers which kept my kids busy for hours.

We've come here for each of the last 3 years in August and even when its busy it seems to be fairly quiet and family oriented.

The groundskeepers live on site and keep the place meticulously clean and well maintained.

There are 3 important things you need to be aware of if you plan to camp here.

1. You must have a reservation to camp here. You can do that online or by phone, but there is no option to drop in and pay at the gate as you can with most other provincial parks. We found that the first year we came here, when we arrived and found plenty of unoccupied sites but still could not register our chosen site. I found a staff member who told me that i had to go back to the main gate and use a payphone to make a reservation. It worked out fine in our case, but it could be frustrating to anyone who was expecting to juat drop in and get a site.

2. Issue number two is that there is absolutely no cellphone or wifi service in or around this campground. There is a payphone near the front gate, but if you need to stay connected to civilization, this may be a concern.

3. The shower takes loonies only. Not a problem is you plan ahead, but we found there were lots of people who were trying to trade their toonies or quarters outtside the washroom.

Garner Lake has a nice (but small) sandy beach with yet another playground just pff the beach. The lake is large and has a shallow section roped off where kids can play without interfering with the watercraft in the deeper part of the lake. The water seemed clean when we were there and the beach area free of rocks or weeds, and also the sand appeared to be cleaned and groomed daily.

We were there August 21 to 26 when temperature ranged from 20C to 25C each day. Saturday the campground was full but from Sunday onward the campground was no more than half full each day. The beach was fairly comparable for activity each day despite the warm weather.

Over all I would definitely recommend this campground for families or anyone who would like to camp in a relatively quiet old school campground.

We'll certainly be back next summer.

We didn't camp here but stopped a couple times to use the shower and the beach. Got a good look at the campground which is reservation only, really liked it. Only 70 sites I think with well treed secluded sites. Only one of the washrooms has running water and showers. Not the cleanest, showers are coin operated. Good little playground for the kids, and small beach is nice.
