The castle was beautiful. My husband and I went with a group on a ghost tour trip. Fall colors were all around and the castle was pretty with a good amount of the original paintings on the inside. A wedding was taking part that day also. The oldest part of the castle is supposed to be haunted. People who go... More

Castle is located in romantic peak above the junction of two rivers, Vltava and Otava. You can see the style of fortification, protection of castles in medieval times. It's located in the original Celtic settlement, they say the place is magical and mysterious. It's really amazing place. I recomend to save whole day for this visit and take a boat... More

Překvapivě velký hrad s prohlídkou bez průvodce. Romantické místo, které stojí za návštěvu! The castle is placed on the conflunce of rivers Vltava and Otava. There is an amazing view. We were surprised how large the castle is; tour is not conducted and price reasonable.

If you are ever nearby, do yourself a favor and visit Zvikov castle. A place where true fairytales may born. Lovely medieval castle on a river shore, offers splendid views of nature and castle itself. Also they offer to explore the castle exposition on your own - I like that as I do not want to stick to the group,... More

Zvikov castle was founded in the 13th century above the confluence of Vltava river and Otava river /see my photo/. This goes to show the taste of the Premysl dynasty.

Fantastic place on the conjunction of 2 rivers. Just beautiful nature makes this place worth visit. And on top you get the castle surrounded by water and gorgeous views from the walls. One of my favorite castles in the Czech lands. The site is well preserved especially in the main courtyard which showcases some fine architecture. The castle offers a self guided tour and all of the grounds are open after paying the small fee which is nice because you aren't rushed through and can travel at your own pace. Easy to... More

There is no guidetour: one pays the entrance fee and can explore the castle in your own pace. Every hour at the foot of the castle a boat sets off to Orlik, and one which goes as far as Saint Anne and back (no hopp off, total: one hour. This boat offers a beautifull panorama from the river towards the... More
