On a hill next to the castle unfold these beautiful gardens. Meadows, flowers, trees, sculptures, fountains. And beautiful views of the city, from above. We got there for the house and we loved them (also for the shade of its ancient trees, given the great heat that there was that day).

We went to Cesky Krumlov for the day with a private guide who actually took us into the town via “the back door”….through the Castle Gardens. What a wonderful way to start our visit. Despite the terrible drought, the gardens were lush, flowering and full of color. The fountains were all blasting away and the breeze through the trees was delightful. When we exited, we obviously walked back through the garden, which offered up a second opportunity to take in their beauty before getting on the road for a drive back to Prague. (Also, there was no parking problems and little to no traffic…brilliant!!). Definitely enjoyed the gardens and would visit them again if the opportunity presented itself.

I've traveled through dozens of countries in Europe and seen many castle gardens. This one is decent, but to be honest, it's below average in comparison to the others. If you have a lot of time in town, by all means take a slow stroll and enjoy the country weather.

But if you're on a short visit in Cesky Krumlov, I recommend skipping it and spending your time instead on the other aspects of town & castle that will be more memorable and meaningful.

We found these gardens because we could see them from the windows in our Hotel Ruze. They are a nice (and free) place to walk around, but there are very few places to sit. A park should have benches! Walk around and enjoy the sights - but head off to the far side and walk through the small streets of this quaint village.

As I have already been to Cesky Krumlov 12 years ago but did not have the chance to go to the garden,I really wanted to do it this time.
Probably in the summer it is even more beautiful but still I loved the fountain and the lake with the huge amount of gold fish inside. It is a very romantic spot to walk. The theatre was covered now but I am sure in the summer it is an amazing experience to see a play there.

Very pleasant garden to stroll in. Flower beds were beautiful, with varied contrasting colors. Fountain was being cleaned so didn't see it in action. Garden Cafe had excellent roasted vegetables. And work a visit to see the ambiance.

Nicw walk all the way up from the castle. It's September so I guess there were not much flowers although they were still very green. Good walkabout.

Visited in May 2019 and garden was not as well kept as it should have been. Nice garden design. Revolving auditorium in the center, a Baroque fountain, and woods with very old trees.
