Every country has its symbols and legends and the Czech ones include Pilsner Urquell lager which has been brewed in a town called Plzen (Pilsen) since 1842. Since then the fame of Pilsner Urquell beer has spread around the world and, inspired by this exceptional brew, more than two-thirds of the beers produced today are commonly known as pils, pilsner or pilsener. The Pilsner Urquell brewery is a unique industrial heritage site which holds the status of Anchor Point of the European Route of Industrial Heritage (ERIH). The brewery tour showcases all of the authentic places where Pilsner Urquell lager has been brewed for more than 170 years, and where its story continues today. You will see the heart of the brewery - both the historical and contemporary brewhouse. You will smell and taste the raw materials that are used to brew Pilsner Urquell, and the panoramic cinema will take you through the brewing process. And at the end you will taste unfiltered Pilsner Urquell beer tapped straight from oak lager barrels in the historic brewery cellars. The brewery is open year-round. The journey from Prague takes about one-and-a-half hours and you can either travel on your own by car, bus or train.

The tour around the brewery was amazing, interactive and informative, we didn't notice how 2 hours flew by! If you're contemplating whether it's worth taking this extra day out of your Czech Republic holiday schedule and going to Pilsen, have no doubts, you're guaranteed quality time there!

I took my 4 year old and it was interactive enough to keeo her interested. The tour is extremely well done and interesting. Book your tour in advance they fill up. They do allow strollers but It looked easier to use a baby pack.

There are no alternatives or compromises when it comes to perfection... There is no such a thing as more or the most perfect... Tasting unfiltered and non pasterized Pilsner Urquell at the brewery stands both for unique experience and clarification of perfection. This could be new czech national currency...

Stopped here for a quick bite on our way to Chodovar. Pretty grounds and friendly staff with fairly quick service. Beer is SO good and fresh of course! Had goulash, pretzels and a smoked kielbasa. Pretzel was average but the rest was outstanding and price was really cheap! Parked right out front. Visited the gift shop for some cheap souvenirs... More

I was genuinely excited to visit and get a guided tour of the brewery and it really didn't disappoint. Our guide was engaging and talked us through the process of brewing and packaging the precious produce. Actually seeing hundreds of glass bottles go whizzing past on a conveyor belt, getting washed and dried was, for me almost as exciting as... More

If you are in Pilsen and you are a beer lover (if you are not, what are you doing in Pilsen :) ), this is the attraction, you must visit! Try the restaurant in the brewery after the tour and drink draft Pilsen Urquell.

Before coming to Prague I was checking other places of interest to visit during our Easter break. Pilsner came as a good alternative not very far from the capital by train, only a 1 hour and 30 minutes trip. We all agree that it was a very interesting place with lot of history. For a beer lover this is a... More

We had the best night ever at Pilsner Urquell. Turned up at a bit before 5 after driving from Regensburg and going to the Pilsen Zoo. We had decided not to do the tour but thought we would have a look around and grab a beer at the vistor centre. When we turned up we found that Czech Ukelele Festival... More

Took the 90 minute tour of the brewery. Includes tour of the modern bottling plant, the copper casks, and info on the brewing process. The best bit was going into the tunnels to see the old and massive traditional barrels (now only for tourists) and trying the tasty, fresh lager. Our guide was fun and tried to get a singalong...
