From a sightseeing perspective, this site would get a 1. But from a historical significance on what took place here, I'm rating it a 5. There isn't much here. Just a pretty basic looking monument with a section containing description boards outlining the events of Operation Anthropoid. However, this is the exact spot where the assassination attempt of Reinhard Heydrich took place. Where his car came to rest is a bit on down the road from where the monument sits. You can find WW2 photos online of Operation Anthropoid and Heydrich's car in the aftermath. In those photos, you can see buildings that still exist there today. If you use the triangulation method to line up your spot, you will be able to stand in the exact spot or least very close to where Heydrich's car came to a rest. I would strongly suggest watching the 2016 movie "Anthropoid" to better understand the significance of what took place at this location.

A place full of history, moving. we offer you brochures. You can always make a donation. Too bad the film in the theater after the crypt was not visible because it was a private screening: but it was a group of Czech high school students so it was particularly useful and interesting for their story! .

I went on this tour with family members who are World War II buffs and knew the history of this covert war operation that led to the assassination of Reinhold Heydrich, a high ranking Nazi administrator. I knew nothing about it beforehand but the guide was quite dramatic and pulled us into the story taking us to important locations where the operation was carried out and finally ended.

We passed by this Monument on the way to the Terezin Concentration Camp which is about one hour out of Prague. Our guide was great and narrated the whole story of what happened here. The gun jammed and one of the group sent a grenade under the car which exploded and sent fragments of metal and horsehair upwards into Heydrich which ultimately killed him around 10 days later.
The 7 soldiers were betrayed 10 days later in the Crypt of the St Methodius Cathedral and attacked by 800 soldiers and all fought until their last bullet when they took their own lives.
Many whole families including their children who helped them to remain at large were captured and sent to Mauthausen Concentration Camp where they were killed in October 1942

I wasn't aware of Operation Anthropoid prior to my Prague visit - what a great and heroic story. This memorial to those 7 men is simply a hidden gem and stands out as one of my favorite stops in Prague. An absolute must for anyone with any historical interest whatsoever.

If you know the story its interesting to go there and see the exact spot where operation Anthropoid was carried out. All though, there’s not much to see, because obviously the surroundings have changed through the years 😊

There’s a small memorial and a huge kobber pillar (statue if you prefer) - that’s it 😊

This memorial is a bit tricky to find (and stop) as it is on a very busy street. That being said, it is part of a much bigger story related to the killing of Heydrich by the Czech Resistance during WWII. Add the following to this story: Lidice (village close to Vaclav Havel International Airport). St. Cyril and St. Methodius Cathedral in Prague. This is where the paratroopers too refuge after the attempted assignation of Heydrich. Very moving and nice memorial in the Crypt of the church.

Watched move about Operation Anthropoid before trip to Prague. Fascinating story. Visiting the church and museum was a great follow up. Very informative and interesting to see the location of the events. A must see. No charge for visiting.

This memorial is sited in the north east of Prague close to the site of the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich in 1942. The memorial is not far fram from the tram line however is blighted by being surrounded by roads, flyovers and underpasses. The information signage is in Czech. Worth a visit.

Not the easiest of places to get to, however well worth it to see a memorial to brave men. Didn’t go how they had planned it and they fought to the end. Beautiful memorial, very fitting
