Provided you know either the opera itself, or a basic plot of it, this condensed (a bit over 1hour) show is entertaining, using recorded music over the puppet's actions The puppet (or maybe marionette) show is expertly handled - these are professionals, and it has it's fair share of puppet-humour Be warned that not knowing "Don Giovanni" might leave you... If you love opera and marionettes, you may like this one. We watched Don Giovanni, hoping that it would be a refreshing and unique experience, but came away disappointed. The music is canned, and the show seems largely to be aimed at kids with its slapstick humour. There is no innovation in the marionette performance or in stagecraft either. Maybe... More

This fun local theatre had a wonderful opera performance. They did a great job at handling the marionettes and putting together a great story line. The theatre offers a mini shop to buy the marionettes and a small concession stand for customers. If you have time, I recommend grabbing some tickets to see the show. The only downside is the... I was skeptical of seeing a marionette show when we visited Prague, but I enjoyed it. The performance was just about 2 hours (Don Giovani) and very entertaining. It's a good activity for a group or a nice way to relax and spend some time off your feet after walking around Old Town all day. The 8PM show if perfect... More

Tourist trap,,, pay 590 Koruns, go up a steep stairway into the attic of a building. You are then locked in during the performance. I really hoped for this to be entertaining, but it jst fellshort of expectations.. with so much to see outside this beautiful city,,, you can skip this one.

My wife, mother-in-law and I thought the Marionette Theater production of Don Giovanni was fabulous. I never thought there could be so much humor in Mozart's opera of the famous libertine. The Commendatore was a complete surprise!

Marionette show is basically a puppet show. It was a different form of story telling. The show was quite interesting with the story of Don Giovani. They use Mozart's pieces through out the 1.5hour of the show. If only they keep the dolls well-maintained and there is at least an explanation or a booklet about the show, then it will... More

We loved the show. Remember the old joke, 'when does it start? When can you get here?' That was us at 40% of the audience. Theatre is old and in the attic of a building in the old city close to the clock. It takes a moment to get past the Muppets thoughts but that soon goes and by the... More

The price for 1 adult here was 590 CZK. More than double the price of a guided tour of the klementium but nowhere near as fun. Especially right off the bat how cheap things in Prague are, 590 really feels like a tourists trap. The Theatre itself is a rickity old attic where the wood was cracked and I felt... More

For the money charged, I likely would not return to the Marionette Theater. Seating was cramped, the play itself was...well....strange, and the price was disproportionately high. I guess if you are a true fan of the marionette arts and are familiar with the play then this may be of some interest to you, but for the casual tourist who's not... More

Staying in Stare Mesto (Old Town)

Neighbourhood Profile
Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighbourhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.
