The villa for Milada and Frantisek Muller in Prague is the chef-d'oeuvre of the international architectural avant-garde. He had no hesitation in commissioning one of the greatest architects of the time to design his own, representative home - Adolf Loos, who had already been active in Bohemia. This commission allowed Loos to bring his original spatial conception, known as Raumplan, to a rapid culmination. The outfitting of the villa interiors – selected and in many cases designed by the architect himself – was the embodiment of the surprising harmony between modern Functionalism and the classic English style.

This is a beautiful house designed by Adolf Loos in 1930 and was one of the highlights of our visit to Prague. It is worth knowing that you have to book a guided tour in advance. We had not researched it and just turned up, but the guide kindly let us join a Czech speaking tour which was due to... More

Together with Tugendhat, this villa is just stunning. Excellently renovated and charming - the guide was well informed, answered all questions and did not rush anyone during the tour. However, I would welcome if a garden were also available for a sight-seeing, just as it is in the case of Rothmayer Villa...

If you are architect or interested in architecture do not miss this visit. Greatly preserved villa, very smart house plan. Adolf Loos ranks as one of the most important pioneers of the modern movement in architecture.

It is important to book the English tour in advance, as they are limited in size and in frequency. Our tour guide was beautiful and informative, prepared for each of our questions. One of the beauties, is that the home was perfectly furnished. You are also able to visit every room in this large home. It is too far out... More

Great villa to visit, but you need to be fan in architecture. It is not like Thugenhat which is taking breath, but definetelly interesting.

Oddly enough to our eyes Villa Muller seems very decorative. Worth the trip out. Take a metro to Hradvanska and then a tram. You have to book ahead though. One of the key houses of the 20th c. Make sure you combine with a trip to Brno to see Villa Tugenhadt. Both built in the same year

I visited the Muller Villa on 01 May, 2012 after having booked my place on an English language tour about a month in advance. This seemed sufficient as I wasn't placed on a waiting list and got the time I had requested. Others had booked (non-confirmed) only the day before and were turned away at the house or asked to... Know around Europe as one of the best examples of early modernist architecture & one that has been meticulously restored. Though not in the "center" of town, easy to reach by tram. http://www.mullerovavila.cz/english/historie-e.html

Off the beaten track, the Villa Muller is a nice change from Baroque madness. A perfect illustration of Loos' classic statement "Ornament is Murder". A must-see for lovers of modernist architecture. The tours brings to minimal rooms to life.
