Top ways to experience The Narrowest Street of Prague and nearby attractions

The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Malá Strana (Little Quarter)
Malá Strana is one of the oldest and the most beautiful neighbourhoods in the city. Nestled underneath Prague Castle it was once a part of the Kings route taken by future kings on their way to coronation - originating in the Old Town, crossing Charles Bridge and leading to Saint Vitus Cathedral. Cobblestone streets are lined with picturesque medieval houses, remarkable palaces, churches, kitsch shops and restaurants. Do not hesitate to turn a corner into any narrow street. You will suddenly find yourself in a calm and charming neighbourhood full of hidden gardens, parks with peacocks, fruit trees and ponds. As the neighbourhood is a home to Czech Parliament and many ministries, you can also run into well-dressed officials. If you are thirsty or hungry, it is the right place to be. Restaurants offer delicious traditional food and of course, the best Czech beers.

    Not really worth a visit
I saw this on instagram and it sounded interesting, however as other reviewers have pointed out it is not a st, merely a passage to a restaurant. The queue was moving quite quickly so we thought we would check it out…but it was a bit disappointing. Ok if you are passing, but don’t make a special trip.

Not worth a special trip- only if you are passing.
When in Rome… We went for the entertainment factor, after reading reviews. We forgot to push the button and so had to wait a couple of minutes for the up stream of pedestrians. Luckily there wasn’t a big queue. It is steep and I would recommend only good for the agile. A buggy and dad were left up top, I noted. Down below is a bar and terrace looking out onto the river. We didn’t stop as we were then going to look at the Lennon wall. All in all a fun 10 mins, to say we’ve ticked it off our Prague visit!

    Cute and kind of fun!
Stumbled upon this! We thought the people standing on the street were looking at a restaurant menu! So happy we double checked. Yes we went down (cute bar / restaurant at the bast). Yes we went back up. Fun!

Avoid. Went down the tiny street to enjoy a drink along the river. It was lovely to start. However as we received the bill we noticed it was extremely expensive and only after we left we realised they chanrged us for 2 non-alcoholic beers in replacement to 2 Fanta oranges. As we went to pay a waiter come up, demanded we pay tip and when we said it was expensive he told us “we shouldn’t come to Prague city then”. This was extremely rude and he said it whilst walking away so everyone could here. This is very untrue as we have been in Prague for 4 days now dining and drinking in the city leaving tips and have never had a problem until now. It left a damper on the day afterwards and was extremely unnecessary.

Utterly pointless.
We stayed in a nearby hotel and wondered why there was a constant queue in the square beside our hotel.
Turns out there is a very narrow passage between two buildings that leads down to a restaurant with a view of the Charles bridge.
There is a small park beside the Franz Kafka museum (about 20 meters away) which also has a view of the river and no queue at all.
I blame Instagram.

I can only review our experience…. We stumbled across this ‘street’ and restaurant by chance. We didn’t realise the traffic light 🚦 system until down the bottom. While we were there we went to the restaurant and we thought it was fairly good value and service was fine. Toilets clean.

I am sure you will be walking in the area, even if you are visiting Prague for a short time. Because It is quite close to the Charles bridge and Certovka.

It is really, really narrow. Just about roomy enough for an average size person to squeeze through. I think that that in itself is funny. But better still are the traffic lights on top and bottom of the "street."

Why traffic lights ? Wait for green - your turn. Only one person at a time , up or down.

The narrow steps down lead to a small restaurant on the river. I have been there once or twice, great photo opportunity of the Charles bridge.
Food, drink and service just OK.

It does exactly what it says on the tin. It is a tiny street with a traffic light for pedestrians. It’s a bit of fun and worth checking if one is passing by. There isn’t really anything to do at the end of the street apart from go to the restaurant or immediately return the way you came.

Hard to find. Search for a coffee shop called Bakeshop and it is next to that. Not much to see but yes it is fun :)

I was approached on the street by a group of tourists from Spain trying to find this street.

As best as I could I directed them to this " much to do about nothing attraction."
It used to be just a narrow passthrough down to the river, when there was no restaurant.
Just few locals walked there, there was surely no need for traffic lights.
Somebody came with this joke like idea to put traffic lights there and it became a tourists attraction.
I was dumbfounded. Spanish tourists were searching for it:)

I walked through a very similar narrow street in Eze, the beautiful town in France. There were no traffic lights there. Yet!

Well, wait for the green light and when you reach the bottom the view of the Charles Bridge makes for a nice photo.

And the whole thing is free.

What will they think of next? :)

There is so much that it is great about Prague and so much that is way too "touristy". I like to come to Europe and get a feel of old Europe. At Prague it is LOADED with tourists. Everywhere you go. It's like being in Times Square, it's insane. Finding this little gem in the middle of all the chaos was nice. Research it, find it, you'll like it.
