Neighbourhood: Malá Strana (Little Quarter)
Malá Strana is one of the oldest and the most beautiful neighbourhoods in the city. Nestled underneath Prague Castle it was once a part of the Kings route taken by future kings on their way to coronation - originating in the Old Town, crossing Charles Bridge and leading to Saint Vitus Cathedral. Cobblestone streets are lined with picturesque medieval houses, remarkable palaces, churches, kitsch shops and restaurants. Do not hesitate to turn a corner into any narrow street. You will suddenly find yourself in a calm and charming neighbourhood full of hidden gardens, parks with peacocks, fruit trees and ponds. As the neighbourhood is a home to Czech Parliament and many ministries, you can also run into well-dressed officials. If you are thirsty or hungry, it is the right place to be. Restaurants offer delicious traditional food and of course, the best Czech beers.

Authentic Czech cuisine at unbeatable prices! Ambience typical and although not overpriced near the tourist hotspots! Very tasty and fast service. Friendly and competent - highly recommended if you get a table.....

While on our way down from the Castle to Kampa, we happened onto a busy little market in this square. Upon closer inspection we found many food stalls with Czech, German, Thai, Mexican and South American cuisine as well as stalls selling Swiss cheese, Moravian wines, Coffees and Deserts at very reasonable prices. Since it wasn’t crowded, we found seats at the tables easily and enjoyed our Slovakian lokse, one savory with shredded pork and mustard, the other sweet with plum jam and hazelnuts, accompanied by delicious Moravian chardonnay. The surroundings were spectacular, all the sellers were very pleasant, funny, giving away samples we loved the atmosphere!

Relatively small square with beautiful architecture, centuries old palaces, beautiful Baroque church, restaurants, pubs, ice cream shop, even Starbucks .
Last but not least the tram 22 stops here ...
I love spending time here and always return ...

Malostranske namesti is a small square with couple of restaurants, the St. Nicholas Church, the imposing Liechtenstein Palace. All have been there for ages.
The Starbucks is a new addition.
The parking lot in the middle is now empty. I think that's a good change. The square looks much better without the parking lot in the middle.
With the recent tourist boom Malostranske namesti gained in popularity because tram 22 stops there. Tram 22 became well-known. It makes the trip to the Castle a breeze. Take it and avoid climbing the hill and if you are in the hurry, you will save time too.
The newly restored restaurant U Mecenase has seating outside across the street from the St. Nicholas Church.
Plenty of other places to have a cold beer. Or ice -cream. Lunch or dinner.
It is a nice way to enjoy Malostranske namesti, just like the locals do.
We like to spend time, wandering around Malostranske namesti.
We enjoy staying in the hotels nearby.

This is the main square of the Mala Strana district and is a short walk from the Charles bridge and the Prague Castle. It is home to many beautiful and important buildings like the House of Commons and St. Nicholas church.
The area between Charles bridge and the square is home to many restaurants, bars, souvenir shops and other tourist oriented shops.
Definitely worth a visit as part of a tour of Mala Strana and the Castle district.

Why “doubled”? Because this square has two parts: upper and lower. Both are having samples of beautiful houses of barocco and renaissance stules. These are Kostel Sv. Mikulasha ( Kostel svatého Mikuláše), Sternberg palace (Šternberský Palác), Liechtenstein palace (Lichtenštejnský palác), Palác Smiřických, Kaiserštejnský palác, Sgraffito house, etc. There are lots of cafes and restaurants as well as souvenir shops around this square.

This was my absolutel favourite of the many wonderful squares in this enchanting city.
It is lined with magnificent buildings, ornate and colourful. It's a majestic setting and has lots of good bars and cafes from which to enjoy the view.
I cannot recommend it highly enough and it's one of those places that words just won't do justice to. You really have to go and see it for yourself.
Close to the metro, easy walk to the castle and Charles Bridge. Malostranska and the nearby Main Square are as fine an example of ornate streetscape as you ever will see.

This square is a small charming place with beautiful buildings that surround it. The trams stop in the middle off it and you can ride one to take you all the way to the Castle without having to climb the steep Nerudova street hill. (you can walk down the street on your way back.) Small store around the corner from Starbucks sells the transport tickets.
There are several restaurants right on the square or very close by - and Starbucks is there too for the devoted fans of their coffee. Pivnice u Schnellu is on the corner. (good beer).
Malostranak as we used to call it for short was always a good meeting place, sitting outside the restaurant , sipping a beverage and people watching.

This is basically a space in front of St Nicholas Cathedral and can be found either on the way down from the castle via Zamecke Schody or up a little way from the Charles Bridge. It is a small square that is surrounded by old buildings and has quite a few cars parked in it.

Stayed in this area at Dum U Velke Boty for our first visit to Prague. What a wonderful square and neighborhood. Just a beautiful area to walk - many quaint, lovely shops on side streets and in the main square. Many restaurants. Visited in December and loved the outdoor seating areas for lunch, dinner or drinks. Walked all hours of the day and evening and felt very safe. Visible law enforcement due to the embassies in the area.
