This is an obvious stop for anyone coming to Prague. It's the hub of great shopping, food, entertainment, people watching, relaxation, sightseeing, etc. the vibe rain or shine is always great to behold. The astronomical clock is great to check out on the hour or tour up inside for a nominal charge. The church steeples are tall and beautiful to... More

This square is the central point of the the best preserved medieval old city in Europe. Prague was not bombed during WWII and all of the buildings and cobblestone streets in and surrounding the square are expansive and authentic. The Christmas Holidays and the New Year's Eve celebration are legendary. I have been there twice and it doesn't disappoint. The... More

A very old square with a unique atmosphere, first buildings made of stone (replacing older wooden ones!) from the Middle Ages, 9th century! Many historical monuments at one place. Lovely restaurants, art galleries, shops... A point where city tours in horse carriages, old limousines or a little chuff chuff train begin... Sites: In the middle of the square, statue of... More

We were fortunate to visit Praha during New Year's. The Christmas Market in the Old Town Square was still set up and provided a wealth of dining and entertainment options.

A truly beautiful Old Town square with lots to see. The bars are good and the restaurant opposite the Astronomical Clock is nowhere near as expensive as you might expect. We found this part of Prague to be utterly charming.

We walked the place so many times during a weekend in Prague and despite the fact that is always very crowded is very nice for pictures.

Old Town Square is the central point of Prague's Eastern bank, it is the first place where tourists end up and also the best place to start exploring the city. The square main attraction is Tyn cathedral, a beautiful gothic church with 2 towers dominating the landscape. The square hosts the Tourist Office as well as exhibitions and events. I... More

Staying in Stare Mesto (Old Town)

Neighbourhood Profile
Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighbourhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.
