The Old Town Hall is one of the most significant monuments in the Czech...

The Old Town Hall is one of the most significant monuments in the Czech Republic. It was established in 1338 as the administrative seat for Prague's Old Town. Now, it is mainly used for the ceremonial purposes of the capital city, Prague. The historical town hall consists of a set of five medieval houses, the corner of which is adorned with a historical astronomical clock, a gothic oriel window and a massive rectangular tower. The lookout gallery on the town hall tower offers the most beautiful view of Prague. A tour of the historical halls in the Old Town Hall is a unique experience. The expensively decorated rooms date from various periods and are examples of the remarkable development of the town hall complex. The guided tours in various languages are organised in half-hourly intervals.

Stood to watch the clock striking noon, and was a bit disappointed at the lack of action . Having seen this type of thing at other locations, not much happened.

We saw this as part of a walking tour. The tour itself was wonderful and our funny and personable guide warned us that this clock really isn't much to see. It's not so don't go out of your way, but see it if you are in the area.

From the outside people flock in front of the clock so it would almost take time to take a picture of yourself without a lot of people with you. It's good to listen to stories about the clock. The view from the tower of the clock too is stunning. You see the square and a great deal of the city.

This old and special medieval astronomical watch is beautiful! The place is crowded with tourist but is worth the effort to see it in action! Look for the story about the watch.

The history behind the clock is what makes so fascinating, I would highly suggest that you do a walking tour of Prague where they bring you to the clock to tell you its history. Iv read a few reviews of people saying they were disappointed but I can assure you these people either didn't appreciate or know the history behind... More

One of the must see attractions of any visit to Prague. Gets very busy with 100's tourists so photos can be Full people. The eating places nearby reflect it is a hub of tourists and are more expensive than the side streets. Great area with lots streets branching off which can take you to many other wonderful places and sights... More

It's one of the most famous places in Prague, so if you don't see it, feels like you've never been to Prague! The clock itself is very interesting, it's worth to wait for the round hours, but be prepared, this place is overcrowded, so it might happen you can't see anything from the crowd! You can even go to the... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighbourhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.
