The Old Town Hall is one of the most significant monuments in the Czech Republic. It was established in 1338 as the administrative seat for Prague's Old Town. Now, it is mainly used for the ceremonial purposes of the capital city, Prague. The historical town hall consists of a set of five medieval houses, the corner of which is adorned with a historical astronomical clock, a gothic oriel window and a massive rectangular tower. The lookout gallery on the town hall tower offers the most beautiful view of Prague. A tour of the historical halls in the Old Town Hall is a unique experience. The expensively decorated rooms date from various periods and are examples of the remarkable development of the town hall complex. The guided tours in various languages are organised in hourly intervals.

At the moment there is work being done on the clock, so there is no visible part of the supposedly beautiful clock. If that is what you want to see definitley wait until the work is finished

Located right in the middle of the old city centre. Interesting historical piece with twelve apostles . Unfortunately, it was close for conservation/ maintenance when visited. The good thing is that it is in the middle of the city centre so you still can enjoy...More

We walked around looking for the clock and then realised it was currently being restored so is completely covered. Still worth going in the town hall though.

The astronomical clock is under construction or something. I was understandably upset so I gorged myself on ice cream

So disappointing - it was on top of our 'must see' list andit was draped with a picture of the clock. No pic was taken.

The old town hall is currently draped under awnings as it is undergoing renovation so no astronomical clock or picture opportunities, although you can still visit the tour, tickets purchased in the tourist office next door.

The Astronomical clock is currently being repaired. They have a screen to watch which is silly to see. I would rather see what repair they were doing. Crowds gather to look at a video.

A lovely building but when we visited at the end of June, the astronomical clock was still under wraps for renovation work. They have a hologram version at the moment instead

A perfect guided tour of old town hall which includes the Tower. We recommend that you do both. There are great views from the tower and the cellars are a must.

The museum is excellent. We did the self-guided tour, which met our needs. The information provided was helpful in terms of learning about Prague's history. And the old building itself is spectacular! Definitely worth climbing the tower, but be patient, as there's a stop light...More

I don't remember how much it is to enter the town hall but you can see the astronomical clock and its hourly movement for free. The key is to get there at about the half hour mark and find a spot DIRECTLY in front of the... More
