This church is a pleasant antidote to the pomp and grandeur of St. Vitus Cathedral. Don't get me wrong the Cathedral is wonderful but there is something about the simplicity of this basilica that makes it nice and relaxing. It is a very plain church,...More

Even though this basilica is small and simple compared to the St. Vitus's Cathedral, it's still worth the visit, because you can somehow feel how old the building is.

Founded in 920 by Prince Vratislav I, it was rebuilt in the 12th century. The facade gained its present baroque appearance in the 17th century. Outstanding are the chapels of St. John of Nepomuk and St. Ludmila, grandmother of St. Wenceslas, the first Czech Christian...More

Part of Prague castle district. Beautiful small church. You can feel the age when you in there. You need a Prague csstle ticket to gain entry and a permit to take photos.

While St. George's Basilica may be dwarfed by its neighbour St. Vitus, it is worth a stop in as it is unique and very, very old. There is a beauty in its simplicity and is a lot quieter than St. Vitus as well.

The church may bot impress you the way that other churches like st. Vitus or st. Nicholas may do but as it is a part of the pack of the castle, there is no harm in visiting it.

As soon as we walked into this church I thought this is what a church should be like, plain and not too heavily adorned with paintings , statues etc . A plain stone building with some murals on the wall and ceiling which are now...More

Your experience in Prague will never be complete if
you do not see it from the top. Hillsides, stretched
from the west to the north, provide spectacular views
of greenish copper cupolas, narrow cobblestone
streets, bridges connecting both river banks and green
gardens from red-roof tops of centuries-old houses.
Prague pulls you into its 1300 year old history.
Walking up the hill or stairs to Prague Castle, the
