Stunning art-deco church, less crowd and superb view of the city!
Take the tram no 2 from the bridge Manesuv, you'll be rewarded with a pleasant journey along the Danube. Once you have reached your stop, it is a 15mns walk up to the hill, from which you will have a great view of the city and river. The entrance fee is 180Cr and well worth it: the interior is spectactular!! It looks as if decorated by Mucha! From floor to ceiling, an explosion of art-deco colors and patterns: stunning!! Because of its remote location, this monument is much less crowded than other parts of the city: very enjoyable!

    A stunning surprise
The exterior of the Basilica of St Peter and St Paul is dark and foreboding, but step inside and you are transported. It is like walking into a storybook with floor to ceiling art nouveau murals. I have been in countless churches and cathedrals, but have never seen anything quite like this. The complete grounds of Vysehrad are fascinating as well and provide beautiful vistas across the river to Prague Castle.

    Fabulous Place to See
It is a wonderful place to spend a morning, afternoon, or the entire day while visiting Prauge. See the park, the church, the cemetery, and my favorite, go for a guided tour under the ramparts. Highly recommend.

Beautiful attraction on the outskirts of Prague. Stunning views of the city from the external walkways and beautiful basilica which is highly decorated. This fort and it's buildings had all the charm of Prague city but with fewer crowds. It also had some beautiful little cafes to get a snack or a hot chocolate in and an art exhibition in the gallery. Worth a visit.

Lovely little spot for a relaxing wander and taking in the views. Had a little glass of wine in one of the bars, plenty to see and beautiful on a nice day!

This historic fort was built on a hill above the Vltava river in the 10th century as one of the first settlements in the area. A castle and church were built there and this was the seat for rulers until the seat of power was moved to Prague Castle in the 12th century. The area now has a park that goes throughout the facility. It is in a quiet residential area. There is no entry fee. The views around the outer walls provide great photos of the castle and city. There is a cemetery with large tombs containing some of the most famous Czech persons. On the East side of the cemetery you will find a large tomb with a large statue of Slavin on top built in the 19th century. This is the common tomb of selected personalities. Next to the cemetery is the neo-gothic Basilica of St. Peter and St. Paul. Entry into the Basilica is free. This is a great place to visit to get away from the hectic tourist area and see great views of the city. It is only a 10 minute walk from the Vysehrad metro station.

This was a nice break from the bustle of the main tourist area. Take a short walk from the metro station. The signage makes it easy to find. There is nice shade in many areas and the views are great. You can explore at leisure for free, but there are modest fees to go in some of the buildings, such as the cathedral and art gallery. The cemetery is fascinating and not to be missed.
