About
Petřín Lookout Tower, one of the most prominent landmarks of Prague, was built as part of the Jubilee Exhibition in 1891 as a loose copy inspired by the Eiffel Tower (at a ratio of 1:5). It is 58.70 metres high, and 299 steps lead to its peak, which is at the same altitude as the real Eiffel Tower. The view from its top overlooks not only the whole city, but on a clear day you can see nearly all of Bohemia.

    Stunning 360 views of Prague
Loved this attraction. The walk up to the tower itself it a really nice walk with some steep parts but well worth it. Once the top the views are great and even better when you climb the steps to the top of the tower. You can tie the funicular at a cost of 60czk but if you’ve got the public transport day pass or 3 day pass you get on for free as the same as the other trams busses and metro link. The gardens are also nice, some were being worked on when we went but still nice to walk through. All in all a great use of time and quicker if you take the funicular if you’re short on time but want to see the views.
Hello, thank you for your review. It is very important to hear feedback from our customers. It's a helpful tip that those with public transport passes can ride the funicular for free, making it even more convenient to reach the top. It sounds like you made the most of your time and enjoyed both the views and the surrounding areas. Thank you for sharing your insights, it's sure to help future visitors plan their trip to this attraction. Have a wonderful rest of the day, Prague City Tourism

    Great Views of Prague
Took a walk from town up to the tower (few miles). Stopping for coffee/photos on the way. It's a bit of a hike up to the platform but the reward is Fantastic Views. Just under half way up the tower there is a large platform where you an relax/take photos etc. Continue up to the very top and you are inside. Can get pretty busy. Especially with only 1 window open if you want to take a photo without any window glare in your pics (which everyone wants to do). Costs a few quid to get in the tower but worth it for the views if you like this kind of thing.
Hello, thank you for your kind review. We are very glad that you enjoyed the beautiful journey to the Petřín lookout tower, during which you refreshed yourself with good coffee. The climb to the tower itself is a bit more challenging due to the number of stairs, but the view that visitors get afterwards is really worth it. In addition, we appreciate that you chose to walk up the tower, although there is the option of using the lift. We look forward to your next visit. Kind regards, Prague City Tourism

Inspired by the Eiffel Tower, this steel construction gives great views of Prague
The tower is available to enter for a fee. There is a lift to the top that can be accessed for an additional fee. The tower stays open until 2100 at night and gives great views of the city in night and day. For anyone who enjoys heights, or views, or 19th century engineering, this is a great place to visit.
Hello, thank you for your kind message and review. You have managed to include everything relevant here for the following visitors who might find the information useful. From October to December the opening hours of the Petřín Lookout Tower are from 10:00h to 20:00h. However, it is still possible to enjoy a wonderful view of Prague day and night, especially in the winter months when it gets dark much earlier. We are glad that you really enjoyed your visit to the Petřín Lookout Tower. Best regards, Prague City Tourism

    Spectacular views.
If you want to see Prague from up high then this is a must. You walk up through a lovely park with well kept garden....be warned it's a steep climb but you take it at your own pace. The tower at the top of the gardens is a mini Eiffel tower. You can either take the lift or climb the staircase all the way to the top. I walked and there are rest spots at regular intervals. When you get to the top it's worth the work. You get the most amazing views of Prague and it's suburbs. Stunning views. Well worth doing .
Hello, thank you for your kind message and review. We are really happy to hear how impressed you were with the Petřín Lookout Tower. At the same time, you have also beautifully managed to summarize everything necessary for other visitors who are going to visit the Petřín Lookout Tower. There is a lot of useful information in your review that I am sure they will be happy to use. Thank you again and we hope you will visit us again sometime. We look forward to your visit. Prague castle and Petrin tower combo walk
Highly recommend going to prague castle first before it gets too busy and then walk to petrin tower. Lots of steps and definitely needed googlemap to help us but it was a lovely day and walk. Not well suited if you have mobility or fitness issues due to stairs and cobblestones. Funicular and elevator were closed for maintenance so we got our exercise. Petrin tower was not very lined up when we arrived around noon but was more busy once we came down. Purchased the combo ticket including the mirror maze which was cheaper than buying individual tickets. The mirror maze is quite short, perhaps of more interest if you are with children but it was still fun with my adult daughter. We enjoyed sitting in the court yard at the base of Petrin tower amongst the tree canopies. Nice walk down (again, definitely needed googlemap to help) and visited the memorial to victims of communism at the bottom of Petrin hill.

    Amazing views
We decided to walk up to the tower through the park instead of taking the railway. The path that we took was a little steep in places, but I think there are other paths that you could take that are not so steep. It was well worth the hike the park looked beautiful in the autumn . We queued for about 10 minutes to get to the tower and climbed to the top, which was well worth it as the views were spectacular on the clear day. I would recommend doing this towards the end of your trip so you can identify everything that you have visited . We stopped at a little rustic café, on the way down where the drinks were really reasonable, the staff friendly and the hotdogs were delicious .

    Good Views but ...
Overall, this provides a good vantage point over Prague, so maybe if it is not busy, if you happen to qualify for some form of discount or if you have the Prague card (assuming it covers it), the worth considering. We went up and whilst the view was good, we felt the overall experience was somewhat lacking. Firstly, it was very busy. Responses to some comments claim they regulate the number of people, we really did not find this. Whilst going up/down the staircases and whilst on both the lower and upper level platforms, we found them all fairly congested. Platforms were fine as they are more or less enclosed - less so with the stairs! Secondly, no bathrooms (or the only ones we saw involved an additional fee). Finally, ticket prices are on the high side. Considering you are walking up/down, just feels like they are milking tourists to the max.
Hello, thank you for your message and review. We are glad you liked the view of Prague. Unfortunately, we are also sorry to hear about your overall view of the tour. There is indeed an increased number of visitors in December, but this is the case with almost all sights at this time of year and so you have to expect that there will certainly be more visitors than usual. Visitor regulation works in most cases, but there are also rules that visitors need to follow. This means that they will use the staircase to climb up the tower and use the staircase to descend. Unfortunately, this is not always the case. If a visitor wants to, then they have the option of using the lift to get up the tower for an additional fee. So if you don't want to climb the staircase, you can choose the more comfortable elevator ride. The admission prices are perfectly fine for us and according to European regulations. At almost every tower you have to take into account that you have to climb stairs. Only a few have a lift available for their visitors and if they do, this service is additionally charged, as is the case with toilets. We sincerely hope that you still enjoyed your stay in Prague and took away a lot of unforgettable experiences. Best regards, Prague City Tourism

Great view of Prague from the top
The view from the top was very good. It is a bit of a hike to get to the Tower, via tram and funicular. Then a walk to the Tower. It was cold and windy (not their fault). It is a high walk with many steps and a battle at the top with crowded many people. But worth a visit for that view of Prague.

Worth a walk or ride in the funicular to see, but massively overpriced.
Petrin tower is listed high up there as sites to see and visit while in Prague. I was excited to go here, however go here is all we did as the queue at the ticket office was fearful and seemed to move slower than snail speed. Also ..... completely overpriced if you don't mind me saying. We took a nice walk up round by the castle and monastery and then took the funicular railway back down for the novelty factor, which we enjoyed. The tower is lit up at night and nice to look at. Sad to read reports of rude staff at the ticket office, however in all honesty we found a high level of rudeness and low customer services standards from many 'local' people during our stay in Prague which was very disappointing. Tourism is their bread and butter, yet seemingly, customer services is very low in their priorities throughout the city. 🙄😕

    Great View
Be sure to either climb the tower or get the lift to the top for some spectacular views of Prague, it's 299 steps up a spiral stairway but well worth it. Get the funicular to the top of the hill and its included in your daily travel pass. The tower is a 5 minute walk away. After the tower, take a walk across the tops to the castle and cathedral

Not for ANYONE with a disability. Vernacular takes you up and down ...I struggled with my stick. Stairs stairs and more broken stairs.
Ignorant ticket women in booth all need a bloody good slap and sent back to the concentration camp they trained in!
Once at the top the ground is up steps and down sinkholes.
Tower is 300 steep circular staircase steps. There is a lift...you gotta pay extra!. 5’ x 4’. Or 1.5x1.2m just about holds 3 three people and claustrophobic. Gets to top by this upright steel coffin (shut in by not one but two steel sliding doors ) and was a nice view but was told waiting for the lift at top that we will be second going down. What this meant was we 2 of us were second to enter the upright coffin and another two behind us were pushed in so 6 six people AND the operator = 7 going down. It was so tight I couldn’t breathe so shoved my way out to be told the lift is not for two people only! I argued we came up with just the two of us but to no avail. We were going to have to share 7 at a time or go down by stairs so I arsed myself down the 300 steps (I’m broken back handicapped) and after an hour reached the bottom. Not for the elderly or handicapped in any shape or form and a rip off with extremely rude and non concerned staff both at the vernacular and the tower.
Be warned, these people should not be working on this tourist attraction.
A disgrace to the country.

A waste of good air .

Busy, good value and stunning views! We were blessed with the sunshine on the day we visited but after a hike up the hill (you can get the tram/train but it had a queue!) the Petrin tower is very good value for money (£10 for two adults) and has the most amazing views from two platforms. The bar/restaurant next door is also fantastic and has stunning views. A real must see for the whole of Prague!

The PETRIN tower is a one fifth size replica of the EiffelTower. Costs czk240 per person. Access is via just under 300 steps, although there is a lift at an additional czk150 each. Lovely views over Prague, both the old and new sections, the castle and the river. If you are keen to visit the small hall of mirrors, buy the combined ticket which for czk260 rather than the cake 120 if bought separately

The area and place are wonderful. You should visit the Petrin tower and go up to top to have the a 360 view of the city.
However, the staff was awful. I was buying the ticket to visit the tower, I had my credit card ready in my hand and I asked to the cashier if Credit card payment WAS accepted, when she reply “cash”? So, I kindly ask if credit card payment was not accepted and she answered “Yes, we accept credit card payment, but I am asking you credit card or payment BY CASH, HOW CAN I KNOW HOW YOU WANT TO PAY?” and she rolled her eyes… Sorry… I had the credit card in my hands and I even asked to pay with IT… And she did not know??? And she replied and behaved in such way in front of a customer???? Seriously?Unfortunately I had other similar experiences in Prague…. I cannot tolerate such behaviors… I am a customer, a tourist in this country and this is the treatment that I receive??? Pay more attention to your customers/tourists.

Couldn’t agree with the previous comments by Alan more!
Not only was the woman in the ticket kiosk rude she actually slapped my hand as I was pointing to the prices sheet! We class that as abuse in the uk!
She was probably about 60 with ginger hair did not catch her name. She did not smile once she was miserable and rude do not no how she got a job in a tourist spot.
We were travelling with a buggy and another young child who seen her smack my hand and were upset by it.
She was asking for I.d for the kids to prove they were u see the age of 6. (They are 1 and just turned 4!) and asking for I.d of my elderly parents.
We had to carry the pram up stairs and down stairs to get in and off the funicular with no assistance. Would not recommend for wheelchair users as there was no ramps.
Apart from the awful customer service the view was nice and would recommend it for the view only.

Their duplication of the Eiffel Tower. You take the 299 steps to the top or take the elevator (small additional fee). It's not that difficult they have placed benches at various stages if you do need them and also you can take a break at the first level and have a look around before proceeding to the top. They operate a one way system so no problems getting up or down. Obviously great views of the city. Most people take the funicular up the hill but we enjoyed the gardens which make a break from the crowds.

Due to its location above Petrin hill, the Eiffel Tower-like structure gives great views of the city.
There was a bit of a line to enter, and since the elevator was closed, it's necessary to walk up the stairs to see the top. There are two levels, where the lower one is larger than the upper one. There are windows on the perimeter, but they can be opened for fresh air and for pictures.
It cost about €5,90 to enter for an adult.

The Petrin tower is not as cheap as it was but still at around £7, it is a great view for the price. There is a lift if you can't manage the steps but it costs extra. There are places to sit and rest on the way up too if you need to and refreshments available at the bottom in the kiosk or the cafe. There are two staircases, an up and a down one which spiral together so if you break your ascent at the first level, make sure you get the one going the right way otherwise it gets a little awkward! The view from the top is great and it is enclosed so its not too freezing if its a cold day. Personally, this is an easy ascent and a great view of the city.
