Went to the ballet to see the Nutcracker. Fantastic decor, as imposing inside as it is from the outside. Friendly helpful staff and a brilliant adaptation of Tchaikovsky's Christmas tale. One tip dress to impress like most Checzs do when attending theatre.

When you think of Opera, cities such as Vienna comes to mind but Prague prides itself with a strong sense of heritage in opera with not one but 4 main theatres in the city! The best part is, Prague is also one of the few European cities that avoided major destruction during WW2, so much of the city’s old theatres... More

The building is beautiful, both inside and outside. Classy all the way through, but without being snooty. Excellent sound and sight lines, although I doubt that could be quite as true if you are in a side box (I forget what they actually call those seats) We were very satisfied with the performance of Swan Lake that we saw, and... Although our visit to the National Theatre was an unmissable experience - the auditorium is awe-inspiring- the production of Janacek's The Cunning Little Vixen we saw was a disappointing and confused take on what should be an intriguing and thought provoking interpretation of predatory love. Don't miss out on a visit to this architectural gem but my advice would be... More

This was our first experience of an opera and we were not disappointed. The theatre is in an excellent location by the water front and easy to get too, it is very impressive from both the inside and outside. There were refreshments in the two intervals and the seats were comfortable. There was even a small screen at the top... More

Never attended a performance, but admired the architecture from outside. A very impressive building with its gold roofline and huge statues it is one of the finest structures in Prague.

We saw a performance of Krabat here, from a box and it was excellent. Beautifully ornate interior, good sound and views, great performance.

National Theatre is located right on the edge of the Vltava River and Narodni, which is a major street that takes you over the river, and also used by tram lines. The stunning thing about the exterior were the statutes atop the facade of the building. And they were all along the front and side of the building, the side... More

Staying in Stare Mesto (Old Town)

Neighbourhood Profile
Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighbourhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.
