Established in 2004 Tynska Bar and Books was the first overseas Bar and Books enterprise. The Czech Republic had just become a member of the European Union and its capital Prague is well known as one of the most beautiful European cities, rivaling Paris, London and Rome. Located in the heart of Prague, just steps away from the Old Town Square, perfectly hidden in a small cobblestone street with a spectacular view of the Tyn Church. Tynska Bar and Books is proof of how sophisticated Prague has become.

My husband and I shared two cocktails, the Satine and the Chamomile Peated Sour. They were nothing special and not as good as the drinks we've had at Hemingway's, AnonymouS, and Black Angel. As other reviewers mentioned, the price for drinks is too high for the quality. Satine was just sweet and the Peated Sour was bland. I also did... More

The owners did a fine job perfectly replicating a New York cigar lounge. Unfortunately, they also charge NYC prices. Cigar prices were 2x to 3x higher than in the States. An $8 to $10 stick sells in the $21 to $26 range. Whiskey and Scotch price were quite high too. This was easily my most expensive stop of the whole... More

I would rate this higher except the prices are quite high compared to other places in Prague, even those in the same area as this bar's location.

A classy, upscale bar with lots of fancy cocktails. They also have a good selection of whiskeys. The staff were friendly too.

What a place! Loved every second in here. Beautifully made cocktails, accompanied by fine cigars. The bar staff (David and Anna) were knowlegeable, charming and pleasant to talk to. They chatted with me throughout my evening and kept me entertained on a cold Prague night! Seriously, if you like fine drinks, cocktails, cigars and a more refined and civilised evening... More

Excellent vintage decor, great jazz music, and perfect service. There was a wide selection of drinks and a fantastic separate menu with different kinds of whisky. The only downside is that it is quite pricey

Comfortable like your private club, or your own smoking room - drop in and have a tasty cocktail or order something straight up.

Neighbourhood Profile
Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighbourhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.
