Neighbourhood: Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighbourhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.

I've been a Batalion patron since about 2010, and I have to say, the place just keeps going down.
It used to be a really nice place to hang out for young people. The dumb dance club downstairs was always kind of annoying, but it wasn't open very often, so it wasn't that big of a deal. The pub used to be great, though. The staff remembered everyone after a single visit, you were on a first name basis with them in no time, and it made the place really familiar and nice to visit. Also, they were known for playing modern rock, punk and metal music, so it was one of the "go to" places of the Prague music scene. And yet, it was not a dump, but a rather clean bar.
Over time, they started catering to tourists. And no, it wasn't because they didn't have enough visitors. The place was pretty much full every night. They only did it so they could crank up the prices, as tourists are willing to pay more. And, indeed, they did. You could get a beer here for 35CZK a few years back, now they sell it for 60CZK minimum (even 70, I think). That's around 3USD, and while that price may be normal elsewhere, it's not normal here, not even in the centre of Prague. There are other pubs, like Popocafepetl (several of them) or Propaganda (if you want another stylish place), where, last I checked, you could get a drink for a fraction of the price. But tourists are happy to throw copious amounts of money away to get alcohol, so who cares.
The old staff all left or got fired for disagreeing with the owner, and the new people are about as friendly and efficient as a couple of lemmings.
And, of course, the ambience changed, as well. Tourists don't want modern rock or metal, they want background noise, so the owner decided to only play VH1 and MTV stuff, which really brings the atmosphere of the place down.
Recommendation from a local - find a different pub. I know you don't care about the money you spend, but this place is straying dangerously close to the "obvious rip-off" territory, and there are bars of equal and better quality around.

I can't speak for the nightclub downstairs, but we visited the bar twice during our stay in Prague. What drew us in was the music playing as we walked by at 9:30 am. That's right folks, it's open 24 hours a day. We had the same server both times we went (he was great), and there were only a hand-full of people, but I hear it gets quite crowded, and crazy at night (as we can tell from the patron who was still there at 9:30 am from the night before lol). The music is good, and it's right off the main street, so it's easy to find.

The place is amazing. Super cool for a late night visit. Amazing Latin music and good pilsner Urquell from tap. Will come here every night!!!

We went into Batalion last night at about 2am. It was busy but upon reflection, I am not too sure why. The bar staff were rude when we ordered the drinks. We were then given a warm beer which the barman cleverly (so he thought) took the beers from the crate underneath the counter, put some in the fridge but gave one to us. I refused this bottle of beer, he rolled his eyes at us and then went to get another bottle from somewhere else. This one was cold and we then asked for a coke light, this came out of a 2 litre bottle that was flat and could have been lying around for a long time, it was also warm. I refused to drink this and the barman got very angry. We probably didn't help his anger issues when we questioned why he had charged us 10% service charge. (We would have tipped 10% as standard but the fact that we were being forced to pay, especially when the service was so bad, made me very unhappy). He then got really aggressive and started shouting, trying to take the note that was in my partners hand. At this point, I said that the service was disgusting and we left. Upon leaving my partner turned around and the guy gave us the finger - what a pleasant person.

Rude, arrogant service in one of the most atmospheric bars of the city. The bar staff actually threw us out for questioning the extortionate prices of the drinks, which made no sense when we consulted the menu and showed them the discrepancy of the charges; in short, they charged us double the prices that they do for cocktails for a simple spirit-mixer combination. They would not accept any questions, nor would they listen to reason. They also told us we were 'abnormal'. It was such a shame to be treated like that. We would never go back there, nor would we ever recommend it to anybody.

Nice bar with friendly staff. I went there with friends and we ended up going there three times.
Really relaxing and fun place to stay.

Please reopen the museum and shop! I really wanted to come here as I'm a big fan of Kaja Saudek. I'm not much of a drinker so didn't see the point in coming just for the bar. Its an excellent concept though and as I said he's a very talented artist. It was quite difficult to find books by him so I would spend a fortune in the shop when it reopens.

It was a few of us guys who just wanted a beer. Walked in and the place was empty on a Saturday at 9pm. Pictures are spooky and service was awful. There are like a thousand better places in Prague than this one. RIP

The place is nice but the service is really bad. We were waiting for 20 minutes to be served, the waiter had to finish first his cigarette and chat with his drunk friends outside.

Yesterday I went with my students to the Batalion. When I am in Prague I always go there because it used to ne a nice place.
We we're the only guests and while we we're dancing the waiters took our beer away, even the full ones.
When I complained nothing happened and only when I asked for the manager they replaced two of the beers After having made fun about my age. So I wont go there anymore. I think there are many places where they are very happy when you come with a group of students.
