Neighbourhood: Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighbourhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.

We went into the museum at first to get our tickets for the 45 minute boat tour as we had purchased the Prague Visitors pass and this was one of the many attractions offered by the pass. The lady on the ticket desk also issued us with tickets for the museum itself and said they didn’t need to be used that day.
Boat tour: Having got our tickets we went outside again, and went down a stair case on the right into a courtyard. It wasn’t immediately apparent (this may have been because of the lovely Christmas decor) but there was an archway leading out onto a pontoon, where we were greeted by lady in a traditional sailor’s uniform and asked what drink we would like (there was a choice of several including coffee, hot wine and lemonade) This and a snack were included in the ticket price. We were then shown onto the first boat (which had a welcomingly warm stove in the inside cabin) The drink quickly arrived along with a chocolate covered gingerbread cake type thing, and once a few more people had boarded we set off. You don’t go very far in distance but the commentary was very good indeed (and crystal clear) pointing out a number of noteworthy things on the shores and giving some interesting historical facts.

The Museum: We went back on our last day to the museum, and I can see why it has attracted some low ratings on trip advisor. It IS small, and probably has a specialist appeal as it is primarily concerned with the construction of the Charles Bridge (The clue is in the name!) It didn’t take us long to look round but because of the season, it was also beautifully decorated with many different nativity scenes which added to its interest.

The Café: The café is delightful, and again was charmingly decorated for the season. We went there twice (it is apart from the paid areas) and enjoyed excellent tea and coffee. They did have a selection of cakes available but disappointingly nothing savoury. I would have enjoyed a hot snack to go with my drink, but that is my only criticism.

I was most excited about visiting the Charles Bridge and Museum because it covered the Medieval construction and recent renovation of the bridge. This 700-year-old stone bridge was the only way to cross the river for over 500 years. Like most bridges from that era it was fortified and guarded by towers on both sides. The climb to the top of the Castle-side tower was steep and challenging, but well worth it for both the view and chance to study the internal structure.

My girlfriend and I visited Charles Bridge Museum through our tickets for the Prague Venice Boat Trip. We only spent about 15-20 minutes in the museum as we didn't have a lot of time to set aside for our visit. I love museums and I am also really interested in architecture so I enjoyed our visit and I would have liked to dedicate more time to this site, but my girlfriend felt that the objects in the museum were presented in a very dry way and the displays were not very engaging. I wouldn't recommend that you visit the museum on its own but if you can enter for free through the Prague Venice Boat Trip (we got this trough the Prague Card) or through another combined ticket, I think it's worth a short visit.

We only went in as we had free tickets thanks to this being added in your ticket package you purchase when visiting the castle.
Otherwise it would of cost around approx.. 250czk / 11 Euro or $14 AUD and it was definitely not worth that that.
It was the least favourite museum of our entire 1 month Euro vacation.
To get in you have to run the gauntlet of gaudily dressed boatmen trying to sell you a boat ride. We had to check twice that this was the entrance and had to go through these people twice. Very annoying.
When we got into the museum, we didn't know where to show the tickets as no-one was at the desk so we walked in after someone told us to go in. We weren't even sure that they worked there.
The museum lacked a lot of substance and the displays weren't very good. We were in and out in about ten minutes.
I would just do some research on the internet about the bridge as you get better information on that.
Definitely not a must see and not worth the money or time to see. Save yourself from being harried by the boat trip sellers.

Everything about this tour and museum was average. The boat tour was a bit boring, and the audio guide wasn’t the best. In comparison to Paris river cruises with a much better audio tour, it didn’t even compare. It was not very good at pointing out exactly what we were looking at, and so I found myself looking aimlessly at things.

The museum was a little interesting, but also left something to be desired.

The staff were friendly enough, though they did make it sound like we would have unlimited beer on the cruise which was not the case.

The entrance fee was included in the price of the Vltava cruise. The museum is small, but definitely worth seeing. You get an insight into the history of the world-famous bridge and have a great view of the Vltava and Prague's Lesser Town. The small café attached to it is also worth a visit.

We got free entry with our castle ticket and still felt shortchanged! There were two rooms that told you about the construction of the bridge and a bit underground of thd original bridge. The other side of the corridor were just a bit random!. Information on the Knights Order (various segments of it) and some specific individuals. Unless you have a very specific interest in this I wouldn't bother.

Small museum near the Charles Bridge which is included with the Castle Ticket. Nice exhibits, but I was hoping for more information on the construction of the many incarnations of the bridge. You can go under the musuem for a quick peek at the stone structure. Interesting, but a bit disjoint in the exhibits.

Worst boat trip of my life. 22.25€ (550 CZK) for a short boat trip on a run-down boat. They advertised free beer and other amenities. In the end, we got a 0.2l beer from a plastic cup, which tasted awful.

Not recommended!

This is the worst museum I have ever been to. And it was free with my Castle ticket. But I still felt ripped off as I wasted time walking there. I love learning about history but this was so dull its unreal. Its a very narrow subject matter and many of the exhibits signs are dark or written very low so you have to bend over to read them. If I had paid money for it I would have been gutted.. seriously save you time and money and do anything else you can!
