I find it very reassuring that some things never change.. Many generations walked by here and hopefully many more will.
11th century Chapel! Worth seeing and admiring.
If you made it to Vysehrad, you can't miss it. Most likely you won't be able to get inside.
But how often do you come by something built in 11th century. Even in Prague!
Just one more reasons to visit Vysehrad....

The largest and oldest preserved rotunda church in Prague- located in the mythical fortress of Vysehrad. It is normally closed, but opens for mass, times are posted on the door.
It is all in timing and if it is not open during your visit, there will be much more to see in the Vysehrad area.

I have always been impressed by the look of this very well preserved and maintained chapel .
It's a very eye catching building that dates from the 11 century.
We were in the area just wandering around taking in the sites of the area and popping into various cafés and bars on a roasting hot day and took some fantastic photos of the chapel.
A great Monument and well worth seeking out.
Very easy to locate on Vysehrad.
A trusty tourist map will bring you straight here.

Dates back to mid 10th century. I maybe off by one century, but it is supposedly the oldest building still standing intact in Prague .
If you have made it to Vysehrad, you should be able to find it easily...
With luck, one of these days, we will find it open ....

A tiny church with unusual shape placed inside the Vysehrad citadel. Not opened for visitors so all you can do it's to make a 5 minutes stop for a couple of photos and continue your visit to Vysehrad.

Nice old tower in Vysehrad. Do not miss it if you are visiting the area. It was closed by the time I visited (Sunday afternoon)

I describe this as beautiful because of the colour of the brickwork, the round unusual shape and the decorated entrance door (see pic).
To add to this magical view is the watchtower above the main part of the fortress, the shape of the viewing area and its gold mast - all this while walking up the most picturesque path (see pic).

Dating back to around the 1300's this is supposedly one of Pragues oldest buildings. We couldn't go inside but were happy to have seen it anyway.

Yet another reason to spend time at Vysehrad. The Rotunda is beautiful, we were not able to go inside, but I was happy just to admire it from outside
