One of the finest tours that I have ever taken. Pavel has written 3 books about Terezin. His narration is fascinating, bone-chilling and most of all academic. It is a place with hidden stories and from the moment you are inside his van, Pavel lets you in on these secrets. He wants the world to know what happened here. It is a journey that I will never, ever forget. I feel honored that I was allowed to understand in detail, another sad aspect of what happened to the Jewish people during the war.

This is a sobering place to visit but a valuable one, especially at this time. The location is well preserved and allows one to see a bit of what happened during that horrible time. The museum is worth the time but the children's drawings were hard to see when you knew of their final destinations. Definitely watch the film in the theatre.

We thoroughly appreciated Pavel Batel's guided tour of Terezin. The facility is about 45 minutes from Prague. Pavel used the time to give us a good background of the camp and helped contextualize what we were going to experience. At the various locations of Terezin, Pavel described what had occurred and then provided first-person accounts from his extensive research that underscored and clarified those events. The overall experience was extremely informative but also intense as he brought to life the events that are usually only glossed over in history books. I wholeheartedly recommend his tours; but, I caution participants that this is an emotional and thought-provoking experience.

Excellent place, as others say. The only problem is smoking. Unfortunately, it is allowed on the balconies and when a smoker lights up there, it affects several rooms in the vicinity. It wakes us up early in the morning and at night, we have to close the door. The clean Canarian air is away.

We booked a semi-private tour with Terezin Private Tours and Pavel Batel. Pavel is an incredible historian and a phenomenal guide. His knowledge of Terezin must surely make him the leading expert on this topic and to have him escort us and relate the less commonly known history of Terezin was a privilege. This is a sobering experience that leaves one reflecting on society and life. This tour with Pavel is the one tour that should definitely be done if visiting Terezin.

Terezin Memorial is a real must visit place. It consists of two parts. On the one hand, the former garrison town, surrounded by a complex of fortifications and bastions. Under Nazi rule, the residents had to leave and make way for a ghetto, where Jews were gathered awaiting deportation and certain death. Next to the garrison town is the 'little fortress', used as a military prison under Habsburg rule. This includes the cell of Gavrilo Princip, who shot the Austrian Archduke Franz Ferdinand in Sarajevo.
