this is the site of the actual medieval seat of power in the region. but it got destoyed through the ages. Rebuilding has been so thorough there is almost nothing left of the original stuff. fine if you like a full reconstruction, but to me it just was overdone. the wood sculptures are a matter of taste, too. the children's... A fairy tale-like castle with a lot of wooden sculptures that are almost telling stories. There's a spot inside where you can "fill" yourself with positive energy. Lovely view from the terrace. You can see a medieval blacksmith workshop. I didn't expect to see medieval torturing devices, but it was interesting cause I didn't have the opportunity to see such... More

A nice old castle which is regularly hosting theatre, concerts, old-cars meetings, etc ... Interesting to see.

This completely refurbished castle which is walking distance from the Forum Nova Karolina Mall in Ostrava is nice, but lacks in style and atmosphere that you see in the Czech Republic's other castles. We went with the kids while we were in Ostrava for the day and will probably take you no more than an hour. Personally, I would concentrate... More

The castle is after renovation. Before year 2000 it was a ruine. It is the reason, why many local exhibition take place here. We visited a journey with "Mystery person" Xaver, who told us a history of Ostrava in funny way. I am not sure if it is possible to get this visit in English.

The castle was poor with but had many seats. Very little English descriptions & can viewed in about 20mins. Easily accessed however.

People were nice and there are some nice store walls, but the place doesn't look like a castle, you can't tell that it has sunk (it has due to undermining) and it looks new.

I guess this castle, with the modernized reconstructions, is more a castle for shows then actual historic representation. I got lucky, when i went to visit, there was a medieval festival going on. A lot of buzz, a lot of stands offering local cheese and meats. Everyone was dressed up appropriately (except the tourist, of course) and they staged funny... More

A pleasant walk from the center of town over the river and through the woods (well, kind of) - it's not really a castle, but, rather, a museum in an old (restored?) building of sorts. Although unimpressive, it has a myriad of rooms with varying themes and history to keep one busy for an hour or so.
