This can be a combined visit, to both the museum and the destroyer ORP Blyskawica. The warship is located about 5 minutes walking away from the museum. Both well worth visiting and by the looks of it, the museum is continuous improving. While visiting museum staff were working on a full sized submarine outside the museum, apparently going to be the next exhibit. The museum has 2 or 3 floors and an outside area where numerous cannons of all size and shapes, rocket launchers a helicopter a fighter jet and so on are on display. Inside the museum several torpedos on display of which one unique and experimental version, uniforms, fire arms and lots of war history. Be aware that the crew on the ship takes a lunch break of one hour (1300-1400hrs) and you can't visit. We also visited the war museum in Gdansk, this is completely different and I think well worth the trip to Gdynia. The museum has a restaurant on the 3rd floor that is overlooking the beach. If you think this review was useful please give me your thumbs up, so I keep up putting in the effort writing them. Thanks.

The warship Blyskawica is now a tourist attraction. You can visit this ship with an eventful history for 28 zł. The tour is without a guide along a marked route. Various exhibits related to this ship are displayed below deck. Among other things, there are also beautiful models of other ships on display. I found the engine room creepy. Everywhere a lot of pipes, steel, various barometers... I had never been on a warship before and I found the tour interesting.

Excellent value for money, and great to see such a historic ship in in near original condition.
The only thing I would have liked to see would be to be allowed round more of the ship, particularly the bridge / bridge wings and upper deck. The main deck is excellent, but it would be so much better to see more.
Also, I was surprised that there was no museum shop (there always is in the UK, perhaps it's any excuse to make more money from UK museums), but I would have through that a shop would sell lots of things like models of the ship etc.

This is truly Gydnia's hidden gem. A thoroughly interesting experience- you cam walk right through the engine rooms whilst learning about the history and significance of the warship.
I learnt alot from the visit- I've been to the Isle of Wight more times than I can remember and had no idea of the role the Polish Army played in defending it during WW2!

You can see it from distance coming to the Gdynia's Harbour. The ship was built within 2 years in UK and arrived in Gdynia in December 1937. During WWII it took part in several military operations and had over 200 crewmembers. Since 1976 it has become a museum. You can freely walk around the ship. If you are fan of militaria this is must visit. The ticket costs 24 PLN zl.

One of the most famous place in Gdynia. The ship was built before II World War. It have been decorated with the Virtuti Militari, Poland's highest military order for gallantry.
Very nice place especially for children and those who are interested in history on army.

Nice, well kept cannons and weaponry, as is to be expected when the Polish Navy is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep. The staff is actual Navy sailors. Under the deck there is a lot of history to read. Not all is in English, so take a Polish friend with you if you have one.
The history told is a different take on the war history as most know it, as this is the ship that was delivered to the Polish Navy just as the war broke out.
Watch your head on your walk through the ship. I almost went into several low ceilings, yet not 'submarine-tight' quarters.
To be recommended for families with kids above 6-8 years old, or just about anyone on a sightseeing in Gdynia

The ship is one of the best museums in Gdyna. If you are in the city, it would be a pitty not to visit it. But you must keep on mind lunch break. We bought tickets at noon, we entered on the deck without any information about lunch break. After 15 minutes there, the staff announced closing of the ship. We had less then 30 minutes to walk around and see everything which is not enough. The staff walked straight behind our backs, it was not comfortable and a bit stressful.

This battle ship is a museum now. For kids it can be fun to go on board but for me pictures are enough.

A byłoby miło zobaczyć jakieś zdjęcie z tamtych lat.Zdjęcia pstrykał P.Zdzisław,myślę że coś ocalało.Pozdrawiam życzę miłej służby!!!!!Dariusz.D
