My partner thought I'd like to spend my birthday traipsing around Europe's largest brick built castle. She was spot on. We picked up the free audio guides (highly recommended) and let "Johann" and "Tom" guide us through the castle. After the 3 hour tour we stopped off in Piwniczka for very generous plates of food. Fantastic.

Large imposing castle dating back to the latter years of the 13th century. It feels actually more like being in a village than in a castle, seeing cars parked within the castle compound actually sort of ruined it a bit for me. But definitely imposing and interesting. Very low entrance fee. Nicely situated on the side of the Nogat river,... More

Malbork castle is located about 60km from Gdansk and easily reached by train. Fares range from about £2 for Regional train to £10 for Inter City train. The castle is about a 15 minute walk from train station. Admission price is inexpensive imo. The castle itself is huge and beautiful both inside and out.. With loads to explore. There is... More

Took a 1/2 day drip from Gdansk to see the world's largest brick castle and was not disappointed. It is very easy to get here from Gdansk. Just take one of the many trains from Gdansk Glowny train station. There are some fast ones (about 28 minutes) and some slower ones (about 40 minutes). I opted for the slow train... More
