This monument commemorates those who died in the uprising of 1970. Imposing in size, carrying a crown of thorns, but with a peaceful face, the angel reminds us that freedom often comes at a great cost.

This can be seen on a walking tour of the city center. It is very centrally located and easy to see whether walking or driving.

As a tourist attraction , not very interesting. Its nice to see if you are in the area but I wouldn't make it my main priority

We have passed many times this angel. She is so beautiful and I couldn't help myself taking photos every day. She stands beside the modern concert hall in Szczecin.

My photos aren't available but might show that this angel statue is quite unusual and definitely worth viewing. Walk through the plaza and you'll also get to see a church with multicolored bricks, set in patterns, and a very modern building juxtaposed against the older buildings.

Stumbled across this by accident, but it's a really important monument. It shows the names of those who died in the uprisings. Read a bit about it before you go to appreciate it fully. Dont miss it.

The Angel of Freedom @ Solidarity Square is full of symbolic meaning. The square as a setting with waves and the angel in a boat. Fitting for a port city. An angel to commemorate the fallen of the anti-communist riots. A symbol for the Solidarity movement. Once in a while I stumble across monuments that moves me, this is one... More

The monument is next to the Philharmony of Szczecin, in memory of Solidarity movement. The names of all that died in these riots have been listed on the monument.

Despite the memorial (something happens almost everywhere in the Europe), the thing that attracts me most is its curving square. I have never seen a square with wavy ground - it is so special.

Great Memorial, I lived in Poland as a child during the 1970's protests and remember many of the events commemorated by the memorial. Very nicely done, great historical images and timelines, with room for personal reflections.
