This is the main Orthodox church in central Bialystok. It can be crowded at mass times, but that is the best time to go and hear the glorious choir. They also have a guesthouse behind, which is a hidden gem for budget tourists.

This orthodox church is quite nice, but only until you have visited The Holy Spirit Orthodox Church! That one is outstanding... This one, on the other hand, has the advantade of being quite central, so if you are nearby, it's a place to visit.

I visited the place on Friday afternoon. It is a very beautiful orthodox church. I guess one of the oldest in Białystok. The only disappointment is that you are not allowed to take pictures inside of the church as neither cameras nor cell phones are allowed in.

I was a bit confused by the term Greek orthodox, but understood Greek refers to the liturgy of the Byzantine (Eastern) orthodox church which is in old Greek language. Similar to the Latin liturgy of the Roman (Western) catholic church.
Built in the 1840s in classicist style though some Byzantine elements like the shape of the dome are visible in the architecture. This orthodox church was dedicated by the Metropolitan of Vilnius (Lithuania) in 1846.
In 1951 St. Nicholas church became cathedral of the Bialystok-Gdansk diocese of the Polish orthodox church. Very independent from the Russian orthodox church across the border.

Try to visit during morning or afternoon service, extremely interesting to see beautiful Orthodox service and understand the local culture and religion shared by many in this region of Poland. Beautiful interiors and icons.

It's beautiful inside. We were lucky to stay at short mess for children because of their end of school year. It was beautiful experience, especially to hear the choir singing and all the candles and lights made an unusual atmosphere. It's worth to visit!
