Historical and religious site of major importance!

This is an important destination for Pilgrims from all over the world! We were blessed to have this opportunity for prayer and contemplation in this historic monastery.

While touring Poland with a tour group we stopped to see the Black Madonna. It is a beautiful site within a beautiful church and well worth a visit there. I usually never give excellent reviews but I really felt this warranted it.

This is a lovely place. It was a stopover on our tour and I was not sure what to expect. Tourists walk around the outside of the congregation and clergy during the service and I have never felt so awkward in my life, so much so I rushed through barely even taking notice of The Black Madonna. Personally I found... More

Quite a beautiful and impressive place. The main purpose of visiting the monastery is to visit the ancient icon of Our Lady of Czestochowa, the patron of Poland. A very spiritual and enlightening experience for all, especially for the faithful. Czestochowa is only one hour and half by bus from Kraków.

This is one of Poland's holiest places of pilgrimage. The Black Madonna has been venerated here for centuries. What often stuns or shocks visitors who are not used to such pilgrimage sites is the apparent chaos and lack of reverence. It is something to be prepared for, I certainly thought that the first time I came. However, I soon realised... More

We have been wanting to come here for many years and it did not disappoint. The Mass was such a spiritual experience and a must for all Catholics. Maybe a little bit too much pomp and ceremony but it didn't detract from the overall wonderful feeling.

Visiting Our Lady was an emotional experience for me but I will concentrate on providing practical advice. We took the train from Kraków, fast and easy. We took a taxi from the train station to Jasna Gora which was worth the 18 pln, remember that it is an uphill walk. We were told to go to the chapel of Our... More

Visiting the Black Madonna in Czestochowa takes most of the day from Krakow. It's about a 2 1/2 hour drive one way. My husband and I were the only two people booked by Comfort Tours. Our driver, Sebastian, was excellent, providing us with lots of interesting information about the Krakow area. On arrival in Czestochowa, we were given our own... More

We visited the monastery the day after the Pope celebrated mass there and tripped and fell. But everything had turned back to normal. All the areas were accessible and the monks were very welcoming. They gave us holy cards for free
