Dont miss the dragon breathing fire

The den was closed when we visited but we walked along the river to view the dragon statue close up - it breathes fire every few minutes. Great for kids and big kids alike!

The den of Wawel Dragon is accessible through a staircase built inside a former well placed in the courtyard of the castle (counting 137 steps; unfortunately - the route not being allowed for the use by the disabled). As an attraction particularly loved by children, it is open to the public between April and October. PLN 3 as the admission... More

SMOCZA JAMA ( DRAGON'S CAVE ) is a brillant way to round off any visit to the castle and Cathedral. It's only about £1 to visit and as you descend into the limestone cave you come across the fire breathing Dragon. This is a nice little end to a visit to this most gorgeous of areas of Krakow. Although on... More

The Dragon's Den (Smoks Cave) at the Wawel Hill Royal Castle is nothing much to see and you can do it in about 5 minutes. Dating back to the 16th century these caves have a seedy history, associated with criminals, used as a pub and brothel in the 18th century. You buy a ticket at the Royal Castle ticket office... I so wanted to see this, but we could not. I only write the review to tell readers that according the the sign we saw - the cave is closed from Nov 01 to March 31. I didnt find this info online so was disappointed when we arrived on Nov 06. The dragon statue outside at the river level is... More

After descending a lot of stairs, you see a small cave then you get out to a statue of a dragon that spits fire.

I don't know why they did not tell us that this is a children - only attraction. It is not expensive but it is really boring. You enter at the bottom of some stairs and then walk for about two minutes through a cave (which is nothing special) and then arrive to Smok Wawelski. It can be fun for kids,... More

A cave at the foot of the Palace hill. Its just a cave but its fun to pass through on your way down from a visit to the palace and get into the spirit of the local dragan tradition! Tickets availlable from the visitor centre at the palace site.

Missed this when we were in Krakow last year , located in a red brick tower on the ramparts facing the river within the castle itself and comes out on the path below. The big Dragon is pretty cool (spits out fire as well) but he/she is at the exit and you can see it on the path anyway! The... More
