We were running out of time in the city so decided not to pay to go into the university but just visited the courtyard instead. The architecture was wonderful and it's definitely worth visiting for a look and few photos

Architecture, artefacts, and ambience! The Collegium Maius has them all. The beautiful Collegium Maius, with a history dating back to the year 1400, is one of my favourite places on the planet! The small, inner courtyard, alone, is a treat for the eyes: vaulted arcades,...More

Great place! Many exhibits that you will never see any place else, like Copernicus books or compass from 15th century. Small, quick visit is enough, but definitely worth going!

The courtyard is a gem and an absolute must-see. We could not visit the inside of the building which is closed on Sundays. Gorgeous civil architecture.

I joined the tour and I enjoyed it. It was a library that was turned into a museum, exhibiting how the scholars lived, some instruments used for teaching, and some historical rooms still used today. It was 6 zl per person for students. The tour...More

You must have lunch in Chimera a cafeteria style restaurant frequented by students. Fantastic value, fantastic food and great atmosphere.

Collegium Maius is the oldest building of Jagiellonian University, one of the most popular school in Poland. You can feel the history when you standing there, in the courtyard. There is a nice, little cafe inside.

It is very close to city centre, easy to reach and a very nice place to see. Probably, even nicer to study.

Standing in the Courtyard of a learning place that is over 600 years old gives you the sense of awe. Move aside Harvard and Oxford, Jagielionian takes the cake when it comes to really commanding the respect of the academia. The corridors are decked with...More

It wasn't my first choice to visit, we actually almost skipped it. I am very glad we didn't! We took part in an English tour, which was very interesting, we learned a lot. There were only a handful of people on the tour with us,...More

I would also recommend doing the guided tour in English, it was very informative and the cost was minimal - just over £2 (and half price for me as a senior).
