A lovely experience here. Atmosphere was very cheerful. The markets were cancelled while we were here so a little disappointing but there are many little shops that we visited. They were just erecting the big Christmas tree when we were there and the lights up in the town was brilliant. If you go there be sure to try the hot... More

They have the most beautiful Christmas lights and tree, a family atmosphere, some great restaurants , bars and of course the Christmas market itself. That is smaller than expected but you can about mulled wine, polish sausages and other polish specialities, have a great time just meandering the cobbled festive lit streets

Before you visit the Warsaw Old Town I advise that you read what has been written by the World Heritage describing this historic centre of Warsaw which was totally destroyed during World War II, and then rebuilt using the architectural details from Italian painters who visited before the war. From a tourist point of view, in good weather, its walking distance... More

Warsaw's Old Town Market Square, or Old Town Market is a Fantastic place to visit. The Market is full of handcrafted goods and antiques and lined with shops and the mermaid statue that is the symbol of Warsaw. It is a pleasant place with much character and history to stroll around with lots of restaurants and coffee shops. The many... More

During the Warsaw Uprising in August 1944, more than 85% of Warsaw's historic centre was destroyed by Nazi troops. At the end of the war, there was a huge reconstruction effort to rebuild much of Warsaw, including the historic churches, palaces and market places in the Old Town.

Best part of Warsaw to see. All the more fascinating because the Nazis destroyed it in 1944 and it was meticulously rebuilt after the war by the Polish people. I saw the story of its destruction and faithful restoration on a BBC documentary by Dan Cruckshank and this was why I wanted to see it. I was not disappointed. Spent... More

We walked around looking at the buildings and visiting local bars. Great scenery and plenty of places to eat and drink.
