A great place, but the chairs in the box are moderately comfortable. Especially cool interiors where the costumes of famous artists hang. The quality of the program is always at the highest level, and the location in the very center of Warsaw.

This Puccini opera depends, as so many operas do, on its leading lady. Here Turandot was utterly believable. She really did look like a marriageable princess, unlike in some productions looking like the aging captain of the ladies rugby squad! The Califf with his spendid 'Nessun Dorma' and boyish charm won mopre hearts than just the leading lady. Interestingly, the slave girl who loves the Califf looked just like Turandot but with different colour hair! The rest of the principals gave good support. It was a splendidly comic gesture to make the three court official into transvestites!! It gace added humour tot he proceedings. And the orchestra? brilliant playing of the score, with full-bodied singing from the chorus, and as some of them were placed in the gallery slips, the sound was stereophonic and powerful. Next time I am in Warsaw, a visit to this opulent modern (rebuilt after World War 11) opera house is a must.

My first time at the Opera was here, and we saw Rigoletto. It was absolutely amazing, they effort they had put into building the scenes, the musicians were exquisite, orchestra great and the interior of the building is beautiful, you feel like royalty. Don't forget to dress fancy though, I you wear jeans and a blouse you will stand out and feel uncomfortable. extremely cheap tickets if you compare to Sweden I.e. Don't hesitate to visit! Ps first balcony seats are the best not too far from the middle but not too close either.

We three had based our long weekend in Warsaw around this Sunday evening performance of La Clemenza do Tito (Mozart) with Anna Bonitatibus as Sesto (a favourite of my friend).
We arrived at 17:45 for the 18:00 start, well organised coat checks with lots of bays and staff. We had front row stalls seats at 66zl (£11!) although more expensive in middle stall rows. Right by the pit we could see the musicians, excellent quality. The stage was slightly raked and theist particular modern production was assisted by side video/overhead shots. Unusual but it just worked (allowing for a slight digital processing delay). iPads and blackberries were included in the props!
The smoke from burning Rome caused a it of coughing and spluttering in the audience but there was more of a problem if a close by woman with her mobile going off on vibrate AT the very quietest moment in the whole opera! Sod's law despite the prior announcement! My neighbour was sniffling and throat rasping throughout! He was very big and Mafia like so I did not want to offer my tissues to him!
Enormous Stage and huge chorus impressed us all.
Singing was excellent, top class international cast and conductor.
Do not worry about dressing up. There were some fashionistas who dressed down to dress up. Obviously some people turn up in their best togs. It was cold and slushy outside but some intrepid women had ridiculous high heels on as they left the main exterior doors. The only sensible shoes were on stage as there was cross dressing/castrati stylee characters (Sesto included) to confuse the already complicated plot further!
The music and spectacle were the main reasons to be there though!
The interval was a mad rush to refreshments at reasonable prices (compared to London!!). Large chocolate and ginger cake at 15zl, coffee at 10zl, 18.5cl wine at 20zl. Interval was not long enough to enjoy though.
At the end the coat retreval was easy despite queues at several bays, our checker was incredibly efficient!
As we had arranged to meet AT after we made our way to the stage door off the side street and went to the interesting cosy bar behind for a few beers and some food with the conductor and Tito himself! A great evening all told!

Located in a very large building between the centre and the Old Town. That's where you can see best Polish actors. International quality, good drinks.

Yet another amazing building in Warsaw!! We saw this building during the day and at night when it is lit up and were blown away by the size and impressive exterior. We were unable to go inside for a performance as we were not in Warsaw long enough - maybe next time!!

Attended Orpheus in a modern adaptation in a 1:30 performance at the opera house. A beautiful production with great acting, acoustics as great seating from our second level balcony. At 110 pln, seemed to be a great value for a world class performance. Even with 9-11 year old children, we were not detracted by the Italian and Polish language and could still follow the performance and story as only being English speakers.

Opera House and National Theatre ( Teatr Narodowy ) is a massive theatre that looks amazing.
Like most important buildings in Warsaw this was destroyed by the German army during and after the Warsaw uprising in 1944 but rebuilt to its present state in the 1960's.
The theatre has a great classical look to it with it columns and impressive facade, the building would not look out of place in Rome.
Although I have very little interest in Opera or theatrical petformances I do appreciate beautiful architecture and this building ticks all the boxes for me.
Very easy to locate on Plac Pilsudskiego in an area of grand architecture and well worth checking out..

Watched the ballet version of 'Taming of the Shrew' and it was a magical experience.
Apart from the performance itself which was a tour de force, the theatre itself is magnificent. Full of old world elegance it transports you to more elegant times.
The entire clientele,(and the large hall was full), were dressed to the hilt and that certainly added to the charm of the place.
Our tickets were around €25 apiece with a 10% concession for seniors. I guess ticket prices would depend on the performance.

We had a pleasure of obtaining tickets to Aida at the National Opera House during our stay. The performance and settings were top level. 3,5 hours without Slaves Choir was a bit long.

В августе театр представлений не даёт. А экскурсии по театру есть?

What are the tips? Which theater do you recommend ? How can I get tickets? Select seats?
Thanks.

We spent a delightful evening at the Opera House & National Theatre.
Excellent seats, terrific atmosphere with most patrons fairly smartly turned out. You can check what's playing on the net or ask the concierge at your hotel to advise.
Best to buy your tickets in advance as it runs quite full. Seats around the middle are always the best, but because the seating is a gentle arc, all seats give a pretty good view of the stage. Enjoy!
