Ljubljana has some perfect art galleries. Old art is in National gallery and art of the 20. century mainly in Modern gallery. Paintings and sculptures are exposed in white building near the Tivoli Park. Later, you can proceed and visit also Graphic Center at the end of the park. Collection has mainly Slovenian art from art nouveau period to the... More

I always try to be open minded going to these types of museums given its not a genre I am naturally attached to. however at the risk of seeming a Neanderthal there is very little , if anything , in this building which exhibits a modicum of artistic talent or insight. the National Gallery across the street is somewhat better... I really enjoyed this museum, great variety of works and described well. I would recommend going to the modern gallery. I spent 2 hours there.

I was left feeling I needed a PhD in Slovenian history to appreciate most of it, and while there were a few pieces that caught my imagination, most failed to draw me in.

There were a few really interesting works in here, but it just lacked the oomph factor for us. The exterior is interesting with some well planned sculptures dotted around the forecourt. Included on the Tourist pass card.

The collection is quite small, but still interested to get a glimpse of some modern Slovenian art. The temporary exhibition was quite interesting.

A local designer suggested that we visit the temporary photo exhibition which was interesting. Because we paid an admission fee we visited the permanent collection. I've been visiting galleries and exhibitions since I was a child, I buy/collect original artwork and have also worked as a professional painter. I expected to see artworks that would stimulate, enlighten, educate, challenge or... More

To be honest, we're not especially into art but the entrance fee was included in the price of the Ljubljana tourist card so we thought we'd give it a try as we've been to a few modern art galleries before and been pleasantly surprised. This was not one of them! There was nothing that was really of interest to us... More

We saw a temporary exhibition about Gabrijel Stupica, a Slovinian painter. I liked it a lot. If you have the chance, go!
