Paying to enter a church is the first problem. The second problem are people praying to aliens. Don't visit the Cave Church unless really, really hard-pressed for activities in Budapest.

We stumbled upon this place by accident, but really enjoyed our visit. The entrance fee, which is very reasonable, includes an audio guide which provides a great deal of information about this unique church and its history. It's a lovely tranquil place to visit.

There are a series of little cave chambers to explore, and the commentary on headphones guides you through them, explaining what you are seeing. There is a very peaceful atmosphere throughout the cave church. It felt sacred and special. Would highly recommend, especially if you are staying at the Gellert which is right opposite.

The church is literally inside the rock, which gives it an unusual look. I recommend renting the audio guide, which is not expensive, and makes you experience even richer with information. For women who visit there in tanktops, it might be required that they wear a scarf over their shoulders. Also, don't miss out the great view from the outside... More

Zaujímavé miesto. Spleť jaskynných chodbičiek vytvárajúci úžasný priestor chrámu. My sme ho navštívili počas konania bohoslužby, preto sme si vychutnali jeho atmosféru bez turistického ruchu. It is an interest place. A tangle of passageways is creating amazing cave temple area. We visited it during the proceedings of worship, so we enjoyed the atmosphere without the tourist rush.

Audio tour of the place included in the entrance fee. Great if the details are of interest to you. A bit distracting if you just want to take in the view and ambiance.

Interesting to visit having stumbled across it. Not sure we'd have made a special trip. Inevitably touristy. Useful audio guide giving background history - historical information on its creation, demise & re-establishment interesting; realistic pricing

When we finally found the Cave Church in Szent Gellert Ter, we had hoped for a more 'quiet' and less tourist-orientated place. Of course, it is understandable that there is a need to make such places pay, and the areas inside the caves where the Pauline monks had worshipped is imbues with melancholy and is a poignant reminder of the... A very interesting church with an interesting history. Worth a visit. Just alongside the swanky gellert hotel, visit on the way up to the citadella
