This was one of many statues located in budapest and around the area. It's located on the grass square between the chain bridge and four seasons hotel. Not really worth diverting to go a see it unless you're just walking past anyway.

A statue located on an island at the end of the chain bridge. There was lots of cars going around when we saw it so didn't want to cross the road to get up close to it as it was all grassed and wet. Maybe some solid ground around it would attract some visitors.

Count Istvan Szechenyi de Sárvár-Felsővidék (1791–1860) was a Hungarian politician, political theorist, and writer considered one of the greatest statesman in his nation's history, known to many as "the Greatest Hungarian".

The bronze, 4½ m tall, statue of Széchenyi with a sword on his left hand and in his right hand a roll. The statue stands on a 8.34 m tall granite base, flanked by four allegorical figures representing Széchenyi's four areas of interest:

1. Trade
2. Navigation
3. Industry
4. Agriculture

Trade, represented by Minerva, the goddess of war, civilization, wisdom, etc. She is often depicted with an owl, which symbolizes her ties to wisdom.

Navigation, represented by Neptune, the god of water and the sea .

Industry, represented by Vulcan, Roman god of both beneficial and hindering fire.

Agriculture, represented by Ceres, goddess of agriculture, grain crops, fertility and motherly relationships.

Located on Roosevelt Square just off the magnificent Chain Bridge is Istvan Szechenyi Statue.
Istvan Szechenyi ( 1791-1860 ) was a renowned writer, politician and statesman and a champion of the building of the Chain Bridge that links Buda and Pest ,the statue is the work of sculptor Joseph Engel and shows the great man in a rather regal stance ,at his feet are four mythical Greek gods namely Zeus,Poseidon,Athena and Demeter, its an eye catching, very photogenic statue that's well worth checking out if you're in the area and easy to locate on Roosevelt Square.

Istvan Szechenyi's Statue is in the north end of the (appropriately named) Széchenyi ter. and near the Széchenyi Chain Bridge. Count István Széchenyi de Sárvár-Felsővidék (1791 – 1860) was a politician and writer, considered one of the greatest Hungarian statesmen. He encouraged development programs in the Reform Era in the 19th century, for example, donating one year of his income in 1825 to establish the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. He initiated construction of the Chain Bridge, the first bridge connecting Buda with Pest. The 2m bronze statue of Széchenyi (1880, by the Hungarian sculptor Joseph Engel) portrays the statesman in military dress with a cloak and sword extending a scroll in his right hand. Below him are four Greek gods: Athena (with a shield and hat), Poseidon (with a trident), Demeter (with a sheaf of wheat), and Zeus (with a scepter). The statue is softly lit at night, and is accessible at all times with no entry fee.

In Hungary is very hard to find a place, where isn’t some streets, squares, institutes, or geographical location named after Széchenyi István, the man, who is nearly 160 years after his death still known to many as "The Greatest Hungarian." His statue is on a square, named after him, and surrounded by advancements founded by him.H In front of the monument is the Hungarian Scientific Academy, and he is looking at the Széchenyi Cain Bridge, which was the first development connecting the two parts of the city, Pest and Buda. In the square facing him is one more monument which depicts another great Hungarian, Ferenc Deák. Both men did a lot for their home country, and we, late successors, looking them proudly, that once Hungary had such famous and distinguished sons. Nowadays, no longer born in Hungary that unselfish giants, ready for everything for their homeland.

Of course, there should be a monument to Széchenyi near the Chain Bridge, and not just because of the Chain Bridge. A very interesting person - I read a biography some time ago.

A beautiful monument (statue) to this man where he stands on a high stone pillar and below, seated four people. Checking this out can be recommended to be done.
