Well organised tour, with plenty (full glasses!) of good wine! Akos is a very good guide! I was recommended to do tour by a friend who has done the same tour a few years ago. We added a Sparkling Wine tour which was amazing! Do take a warm top with as it is a bit chilly down in the cellar.

Only a 40 minute drive on the outskirts of Budapest, you will find yourself in a lovely countryside setting. Vineyards line the hillsides and quaint family run wineries, both modern and rustic are visited. We enjoyed 4 wines at the modern winery where stainless tanks hold very nice, light wines. A short drive takes us to another family establishment where... More

Akos hosted the wine tasting tour for a hen party. He collected us and dropped us back to our apartment. He was kind and patient throughout the booking process and he was informative on the tour. His knowledge about Budapest is fantastic. The chef at the cellar was attentive and even changed meals for one of the girls- not to... More

Of the once proud 80 regions of wine, were treated to glimpes of the 12 leading regions. The white dessert wines King of the Wines by Louis XIV standards were great, but the blends from Eger were the best.

We were interested in caves and wine in Budapest and this turned out to be a great way to experience both. Akos gave us a nice walking tour of Budafok with it's history, and then we enjoyed a very nice tour of the wine caves and a very good (generous) wine tasting, with descriptions delivered in Hungarian by the proprietor... A well organised day out to local wineries, this tour should be a must on the itinerary of all visitors to Budapest. The wine tasting was an experience we shared with a group of 4 other couples from all over the world and all had a wonderful time. Travelling south of Budapest into wonderful scenery you experience the local culture... More

Staying in District VII / Jewish Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.
