Great park to walk around in and to relax. Don't miss the fountain shows every whole hour. Plenty of bikes and golfcarts available for rent, the island is pretty big if you're not a walker.

This island is in the middle of the Danube. There are plenty of things to do. Gardens, Thermal baths, Fountains, dancing waters, mini zoo. There is even a running track around the island. We hired a Rickshaw type bike, was so much fun. Remember to take an ID for this. Well worth the visit if you have half a day... More

Worth a visit. Sat down with an ice cream by a small lake and suddenly there was music and dancing waters, lovely. No time to explore much but would have liked to.

The Margaret island is great, and well worth a visit. We took a lot of time to explore the park and there were even some animals you could see which was a bonus. Would be a great place to go if you can have kids!

Nice for a stroll. If you are a runner, there is a great running track with lots of joggers. Bike paths too. There is no entrance fee and you can take a local bus or a boat to and from the island. The bus is nice because it stops along various spots on the island and you get to see... More

This is the greenest part of Budapest. This very large river island is maintained as a big park. This contains swimming pools, restaurants, romantic pathways, medieval ruins, etc. This can be reached by walking from the Parliament building. This is also well connected by other means of public transport. Worth spending a whole day, if you have time to spare.

Staying in Margaret Island

Neighbourhood Profile
Margaret Island
For Budapest, this island between the banks of the Danube represents a green oasis, especially during summer when its emerald spaces are much enjoyed by both locals and tourists. The gardens here are very picturesque; the flowers in full bloom give the landscape a variety of hues; the fountains add an air of freshness, making walks peaceful, joyful and romantic. A leisurely stroll will uncover a variety of sites, even the ruins of a medieval Franciscan church and convent are still visible.
