Vibrant market

Mixture of touristy and local stands. Nice atmosphere on the ground floor with great range of butchers, fruit and veg and bakery stalls. Worth popping into.

If you enjoy markets, this is the place for you...and, it is indoors as well! Everything imaginable is for sale here from fruits and vegetables to meats to candy to paprika to clothing and souvenirs. Plus there is a food court that is pretty much all Hungarian traditional or street foods. There is a bar as well upstairs. The sights... More

It is a special place and a "must" to see in Budapest. You can visit any time, the best way to go there is using tram No.2 on the Pest bend of the Danube. It is a line offering fantastic view. You have to get off at the green bridge. The building of the market was made in 1897 and... More

The market looked impressive at first glance. But dig deeper and you will see that most of the fruits, veg and meats are definitely pricey. The supermarkets and shops on the streets offer better prices. I'm not even going into mentioning the souvenirs. Don't bother. You are better off shopping elsewhere. Plenty of specialty shops in Budapest offering better prices... More

The Central market Hall is a true covered market and locals come here to purchase groceries, meats, fish, liquor and desserts. it is also a magnet for visitors, since it has an emporium of Folk Arts and souvenirs without a match in town. For those on a budget or for those who crave Hungarian street food, the food court is... More

Should be on every tourist's must do list. The ground level is mainly foodstuffs, of which there is a mind numbing variety of produce. The deli stalls particularly are beautifully decorated with a dazzling display of vibrant colours. Upstairs there are curios, craft, clothes, etc. and a huge variety of restaurants and food stalls. We were there at lunchtime on... More

We visited the covered market with our tour group yesterday, then stayed on to look further by ourselves. We didn't explore the basement area at all, the ground floor has fresh fruit and veggies, meat, deli products and a couple of bakeries, whilst the top floor has handcrafts, souvenirs etc. There was plenty to see on the top floor, and...
