The area
Address
Neighbourhood: District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.

More cool architecture
Nov. 2021
If there's one thing Budapest has in spades, it's cool architecture, and this is no exception. Lots of vantage points to see Pest and the architecture across the river, and the Fisherman's Bastion itself is definitely worth checking out.

Easy to see during part of a general tour of Castle Hill/the Castle District, and free to walk around a lot of the balconies and towers (you just have to pay to go in the upper towers).

This is a very fun place to go. It was still free when we went, though they were going to begin charging. I don't think it would be worth paying for. But I did love the architecture. It is right on the Danube River and you have a view of the amazing Parliament building.

Fascinating view and architecture. Lots of great spot for pictures. Great for a stroll on a sunny day (which unfortunately wasn't when I was there!).

Fascinating architecture

Fisherman's Bastion has a fascinating architecture, it seems out of a fairy tale. The part behind the Matyas Templom is free and you get a lot of nice pictures with the view of Pest.
Instead in the other part there is a museum and obviously it is paid.

Always delivers the marvelous view! Now under the pandemic and less tourists it was really nice to walk around on the bastion and soak up the ambiance! Many places to take great pictures!
