Fantastic City Views

After a steep, 20 minute walk we were greeted with truly spectacular views of the Danube and City. Worth the effort.

I've been there in May, so it was spring time. Blooming flowers, much planting all over the hill, excellent view to the city and the parliament and some very impressive statues on top. A place that you shouldn't miss !

The hill is seen from each part of the city. Be prepared to climb long stairs and walk upwards. Not easy but worth it. The statue of liberty at the top, great sights, don't forget to take pic :)

Be prepared to climb long stairs and walk upwards. You will find the statue of liberty at the top, and great sights! Be careful with the guys playing the "trap game" where they have settled everything with actors and make you bet to find the little ball within the three cups, they'll rip you off.

This hill is visible from all over the city, and vice versa. A really nice free attraction with some history, yet well suited for an afternoon picnic, too!

This is not too hard to get to, for a really really good view of the river and the city, we grabbed a coffee and got to the top in about 25mins. I would certainly recommend.

Staying in Gellert Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Gellert Hill
If you want to treat your camera to some amazing scenery, Gellért Hill is a must on your itinerary. A funicular journey from the Chain Bridge along the hillsides provides a fast connection between Buda and Pest, hoisting visitors to panoramic vistas. Once on top of the hill, you’ll find the Citadel dominate the landscape with its imposing 19th century construction, a site that’s hard to keep your eyes on without being distracted by the phenomenal view over the Danube and the eight bridges crossing. Once on Gellért Hill however, one mustn’t miss the famous Gellért Baths. Budapest is renown for its thermal waters and its baths, and the Gellért Baths are housed in an impressive art nouveau structure. Its interior design, with its many mosaics, recalls the preceding relationships the city has had with healing springs and saunas, traditionally used within this neighborhood since the Ottoman Empire.
