This was part of our city tour from Gate1 Travel. We did not spend a lot of time here. We did not go into any of the buildings. It is pretty and you can get some pretty scenic photos. Online, it states that this is...More

We took the metro to Heroes Square on a lovely sunny Wednesday morning and just strolled through to the castle and grounds. Didn't go into the castle but walked around it. It was just beautiful to walk around the grounds in the sunshine.

We went during Easter, so they where selling food and had a lovely fair. It felt medieval! Loved the whole experience!

The castle is amazing to look at and the environment is wonderful. It is located just next to Heroes Square and hosts a small church, the Anonymous Statue, agriculture museum (I think), cafes, souvenir shop, an excellent park etc. Great place to spend an afternoon!

Take the time to tour the museum not just walk around. Some great art and some history of Hungary to make your trip more interesting. Great photos can be had from inside the castle. Several side-bar trips available ie. tower tour.

You can book the tower tours as you enter the museum (although I would not bother with the gate tower as there is really not much to see). We just went and paid for what we wanted on the day and there was no problem with... More
Do you have to pay to see the exterior of the castle? Can you visit the gardens anytime or just when the museum is open?

We didn't have to pay. We just walked around the outside.
Hi, I saw on the website that it costs 1,000 HUF for video. Does this mean you have to pay for pictures or only if you do video? Thanks
