Good theater

Most of the pieces are really worth to see. Unfortunately there are a lot of not so succesful performances too. But it is a very popular theater - in Hungarian.

We saw Master and Margarita, a play adapted from Bulgakov's well known novel. It was awesome. Although we didnt know the languange we had great time. The theatre's atmosphere is something you wouldn't miss if you see yourself not just tourists but also cultural travellers.

Provides lot of good performances. If you are a local, i highly recommend to visit it. For tourists i recommend to see the building from outside only, since the performances are held only in hungarian language.

The actors are great, it feels like you enter a big family event when sitting down for a show. Very entertaining! You can get tickets for a very reasonable... More

Though called a comedy theater most plays are not. They perform Shakespeare, Arthur Miller and other serious plays in Hungarian. I have seen many and they are very worthwhile. The cost of the tickets are very reasonable. The acting quality is on par with Broadway..

This comedy theater was built in Budapest in 1840. It has a seating capacity of about 550 people. The building was modernized in 2009. It was developed to counterbalance the conservative drama productions of the National Theater. Since 1967 it is the home of Pesti Színház Theatre Company. You can catch some English productions here too. This company also presents... More
