Hortobagy is Hungary's only National Park. Great place to bring the family, as you travel around the park in a "historical" Hungarian farm cart viewing farm animals and learning of traditional Hungarian farm life.

If you haven't been in Hungary before, I would recommend to take out one day from your holiday and spend it in the Hortobagy. You going to feel the real Hungarian Life-feeling. Goulash, with cottage cheese strudel and also the folklore from Eastern Hungary. You have to see the Nine-holed Bridge, the traditional Hungarian sheep : racka, the fluffy and... More

Most of the attractions are about the traditional lifestyle of lifestock keepers in the Puszta. If you are interested in this topic, it is a nice place for you. Otherwise it might be a little boring.

This site has most things foreign travelers want to experience: unique Hungarian animals, the spectacular Great Plain, excellent birding, Hungarian traditions of shepherding and horsemanship. The horse riding show is spectacular and should not be missed. Good place for children and adults. Excellent restaurants and good tourist attractions and stands. The museum has very good desplays about the region's history... More

Hortobagy National Park can be visited on a carriage. The visit starts with a trick riding demonstration. Then the visitors embark on horse-drawn carriages (15 people per carriage) for a 1.5 hour tour in the park. The carriages make several stops to observe the animals of the park and it is possible to ride a horse (one minute ride). Our... More

Museums, arts and crafts and a fine trip to the horse country. It was 40 degrees, a bit hard to take. There are fine restaurants near.

Very inexpensive, Very informative. A wagon ride, filled with narratives about the culture, traditions, and animal breeds in the area. A small museum, Lunch is available a few kilometers away. There is also a large open air market nearby. Leather goods, hats, etc.

A great variety of animal life. Good bird watching possibilities, it is worth trying several times of a year as birds of passage come, settle, and go. There is a very interesting facility for injured birds; they are cured then rehabilitated in huge cage tents where they start flying again. Interesting skanzen type show of animal husbandry and typical domestic... More
