We were only able to see it from the outside, because it is closed for maintenance. We saw that they are working to stabilize this tall building. Would have been nice to climb the stairs and see the view.

The views from the top are lovely, the climb up the spiral staircase is fun and the Minaret should be on a list of things to see for everyone visiting Eger.

A tower built 500 years ago. A very narrow stairs, stone steps (more than 100 I guess), some tiring "climb", but finally you get an amazing sight in a tiny balcony at... 30 mts. maybe... a very nice and very funny experience. You have to...More

The tower is the northernmost point of the Turkish empire when they ruled Hungary temporarily. Walk by and see it, and pay the 300 HUF to climb it for a quick 97 step to a beautiful view of eger. Very cramped since it was built...More

This minaret is very very old, looks lovely. The castle is also close, so is the main square. One of the few minarets in Hungary.

Not much here. Just a solitary minaret surrounded by a fence. Guidebook says that it is the most northermost minaret in Europe. We could see it from the western castle wall every bit as well and that would have sufficed--we were close by so walked...More

You need about 1min to get to the top, but 5min to get to the ground again..;-) The stairs are very tin, small but high. The view is great but there is not much place to stand!

This minaret reminds Hungarians of the time when they were made second-class citizens in their own country by their Turkish invaders. Today the Islamic crescent has been replaced by a Christian cross, except on the miniature replicas sold to (Turkish?) tourists. The positive side is...More

I circled the place a few times before deciding to take the tour. The entire visit doesn't take long only about 20 minutes and it's really scary climbing those narrow stairs. Definitely not for claustrophobics. However the view from above is worth it :) amazing

I am 185cms and 105kgs so I found the climb up to the top "quite tight". My wife, who is scared of tight spaces, did not want to go up and that was a wise decision. There are many steps but it was quite exciting...More
